Ok, here's where I'm at and am stuck. Couldn't find the exact same situation on the boards - so I'll try to keep this short.

X3 chip installed, flashed bios to 1959plus16 = everything works.
I burned a dvd with Avalaunch on it
When I turn on my xbox - the avalaunch control panel comes up.

1) When Avalaunch loads - I see this anime chick in a santa outfit... is there a way to turn that off?

2) (the real problem) I can't ftp into my xbox: Here's my settings in AVALAUNCH

Network: Enabled
DHCP: Disabled
Static IP: 192.168.0.2
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

I'm using a crossover cable.
I'm going right from my NIC card to the xbox

Do I need to log in anonymously?
Do I need to use the "x3" login and password that is on my chip?
Do the IP addresses from X3 config live and Avalaunch need to match? (they don't at this time).

When I log into the xbox from flashFXP, what EXACTLY am I supposed to do... I'm trying quick connect with and without passwords... Should I be typing in FTP:// before the ftp address?

Lots of questions...and a big thank you to whomever responds!

1. No ;)

2. Avalaunch FTP server and X3 FTP server are completely different.

X3 - username/password is x3
Avalaunch / Evox - username/password is xbox

You can do a quick connect by this format:

ftp://username:[email protected] ip address.

If you still cannot connect then make sure your PC NIC is on the same subnet.

In Network Connections in Windows- I can see it's connected and communicating at 100.00 mb a second.

What I can't seem to figure out is how to access the xbox.

I've never used flashFXP before...

When I try to "quickconnect" I type in:

Server or URL: 192.168.0.2 (which is what Avalaunch says it is)
User Name: xbox
Password: xbox

It tries to connect, times out, and says it will try again in 120 seconds.

HELP!

BY THE WAY::: Is there a different version of Avalaunch which shows a cooler picture than the "merry xmas anime girl"? Or can I at least change it?

Yeah that damm santa chick is anoying me too (although some will disagree for sure), the previous version 0.49.2 didn't have it.

Check that you can ping the xbox from ya PC, and also check the FTP user name and password setting in avalaunch in case it's different from the standard xbox, xbox for some reason.

You could always try booting into X3CL and using it's ftp server, thats what I used to set up avalaunch on my xbox (transfered the files from my PC to xbox using FlashFXP).

Can you step me through setting up my NIC settings so they work? I don't need the NIC card for anything else but xbox.... as I have a USB connection for my high-speed internet.

on the subject of the avalaunch bootup chick, you can put an image file in the same directory as your avalaunch.xbe file called bootimage.png which will then be used as the bootup image, or going by what people are saying on xbox-scene if you've got avalanch hooked up to the net you just use the update feature to get rig of the image also.

Ok... thanks for the tip on removing the screen... .

I'm still stuck getting my computer and xbox to talk...

I don't mean to be a noob pain in the azz but if anyone can give me details to check my NIC card settings - what to compare it to - and how to ftp I'd appreciate it... I really appreciate the details.

Thanks.

You just need to configure your NIC TCP/IP so it's on the same network.

Even easier - right click your USB internet connection under network connections and select properties. Click on the Advanced tab and check the option for ICS Internet connection sharing.

Your other NIC (connected to the Xbox) will be set to 192.168.0.1 automatically and you should then be able to FTP.

Woohoo! The checkbox fixed everything...

Now my xbox is set to: 192.168.0.2
And my pc is set to: 192.168.0.1

Is that correct for me to move forward?

Yes - you should be able to FTP the Xbox on 192.168.0.2.

If you set the gateway IP on the Xbox to 192.168.0.1, you'll be able to get internet feeds through to your Xbox also. Shoutcast radio is pretty cool on XBMC.
