Hello all, I'm noob at this so please be patient.

I have just finished installed the x3 chip. Booted up and the built in BIOS version 3.0.1 came up I seleted to flash via network and selelected bios "X3 3108 v16plus.bin" I looked at the screen and it seemed to be working fine. It then powered off like the instructions read. Once i turned it on again the it boots with the chip and at the bottom of the screen it has the xecuter logo. And thats it. I have powered off and held the white button on the controller but sill same thing.

Before flashing I forgot to make an changes on the dipswitches then the second time I did I moved the 0 & 1 to the on position so I have 1024 (bank1-4) available to flash

I still can get in to backup BIOS v3.0.1 to re-flash but not sure at this point what is going wrong.

THanks for any help!

hmm, x3 control panel? Not sure what you mean by that. I have the front panel where I can make dip switch changes. And currently the xbox boots to the xbox logo with the xecuter logo at the bottom. and that is it.

If you have switchs, set (off,on on,off off) this is the pro switch settings.

I read what this means and I think it means that I would be booting from a 512k(Bank34)? But I never flashed anything their. I did do it though and the xbox boots and then turns off it does this 2 times then it has a black screen with the eject button flashing red and green.

No, so far the only thing that I know is I have a stock switch.

I have over and over again booted with the backup bios with the dip switch set to on,on,off, off, off (Bank1-4,1024k) and flashed the bios using the x3_3106_v16plus.bin. And my box only boots to the startup screen witht the roxmybox logo at the bottom.

PLEASE HELP....

Friends xbox is doing the exact same thing....

We determined he can play games... originals, and backups boot as well.

he cant get into the live config in order to FTP and install a dashboard.

anyone know any reason/how to fix this?...

Here is the problem.

The people here only can work with the info they are given.
You see, there are probably 6 different reasons off the top of my head that you would encounter a problem like this.

"X3CL", or "X3 Control Live", is also known as the X3 Control panel.

The ver 1.6/1.6b has a NEED for certain pins to allow the Control panel to boot.

Normally, after a successful install when you quick press the power button, the "X" on the switch for the banks turns blue, then the flubber pops around/"Rox my box" shows up at the bottom of the screen.
This is the point where the Bios should load X3CL, where you can change all the BIOS settings. (It's easy to recognize because this control center directly mentions the X3 and many BIOS settings.)

Now if the pins 13,14, or 15 is messed up (bad soldering/bent/etc)
X3CL will NOT load. My 1.6 had this problem as well. I was even able to get past the boot screen, but never have access to X3CL, hell besides that it worked PERFECTLY.

What was my box's problem? For some reason the chip didn't like the way it was sitting for short. I noticed the chip socket wasn't sitting on the pinheader all the way, but the socket was bottomed out.
SO I pulled the chip up a little, (likely altering the pressure inside the connector) and the chip liked the way it sat. Now my box flashes perfectly every time.

The point is, check the solder on those pins, then double check, with a magnifying lens. If it still looks good, try repositioning the chip.
(Dont! do it while it's on, and DONT! have it dangling at the tips of the pins.)

I hope this helped at all, just remember to be as patient and as informative as possible, and a doctor will be right with you :D

umm,...he can play backups etc?
Did you get on any dashes yet? If not boot from Slayers, it'll install them for you, OR you can simply have it boot the box and then do FTP from Slayers.

Otherwise, same as above.

NOTE:
Just because the chip works does not mean the pins I mentioned are ok, the X3 doesn't depend on them much barring X3CL.

Well... I thought of the slayers. He booted from the slayers install... then he ftpd the dashboard to the c:\, restarted and tried again. Since he cant get into X3CL... I figured he cant set it up to boot to a specific dash either... so I tried making him delete the xbosdashxo or whatever, and replace it... and it still just stuck. So he put in the slayers disk... clicked apps install, and installed evox... still, stuck at the roxmybox screen.

I figured... maybe it's a CL problem, and to try to install a bios which has a screen, that doesnt utilize the pins - IE: the new X2 bios... so he went and tried to boot into flashbios... (power + Eject) and up comes evolutionX's dashboard (I didnt use slayers... so I'm not sure if this is normal? but I dont think slayers would write over the flashbios...as it does turn to the purple X)

From there it works like a normal dashboard.... But booting normally still brings up the xbox rox my box logo.

I live far from him.. so I cant check it out myself, his dad has worked for soldering in electronics for 30/40 years... knows how to check pins and everything, and his dad said when he installed it the pins read fine on the voltmeter. However he is going to re-solder it tomorrow, and see if that might help.

Seems weird that flashbios is replaced with an evox dashboard tho...

I don't think it's a dashboard. Some ppl get confused since Evox is a dash, and there is an EvoX Bios.

Mine booted with EvoX too. It turned out that soldering wasn't my problem either.
I had to pull my chip up off the pins slightly to get it working. (like 1/16th an inch.)
I dunno if my pins were bent, or if the socket being bottomed out made a short, or if a connector in the socket was just too loose, but when I pulled mine up 2 times, it worked like a charm! Have him give it a try, what could it hurt to spend 10 mins?

NOTE: Do NOT pull the chip up while it's on, OR pull the chip up so far that it's barely on the pins!

Make SURE to reflash once u reposition the chip, though you might have solved the connection problem, the flash was likely corrupted by it.

These are just suggestions, I hope they help!
