I just finished refurbishing a broken v1.0 xbox, and everything works fine, good as new. I also just finished installing an X3 chip, and now it powers on and off 3 times, and on the third time stays on, and flashes red and green, or frags. The chip has 2 blue leds, and the "X" on teh bank selector switch is red. The xbox will work fine if I remove the X3 from the pin header, but frags everytime it is on it. I checked my soldering adn everything appears fine, and I skimmed over the traces with a razorblade just to be sure it was. I can't figure out wtf is wrong with this thing. I think it may be the chip. I got it off of X-S, and the guy said it was new. It all came in the original packaging, and appeard to be in perfect condition. I also tried to boot from the backup, and received the same results. If anyone has any idea's please let me know. Thanks.

If you mean when I hold the power button down for a few seconds will it boot to the ms dash than no. I do that and it just frags. Any idea what it could be?

right behind you
Then for some reason something is forcing the x3 to boot regardless of commands if it is on the pin header.
You should check everything in this case, the power/switch adapter, LPC, and the d0 area.

first off it's not the chip the soldering probably isn't 100% perfect. try touching up the d0 point and see if that helps you any

has the chip been flashed? If you flashed it with a 1mb bios and try to use 256k or 512k portion of the 1mb it will flash on and off like that. So try diffrent settings.

I don't know if it has been flashed yet or not, Im trying to contact the guy I bought it from. As far as I know it is a new chip. I just retouched the d0 and the LPC, and still get the same effect.

Do you have the pro switch? If so try setting it to (on on off off off) or (off on off off off) That will load the 2 1mb flash bios.

I still get nothing but frag. Could it be that the bios on the chip is bad? Like someone tried to flash it and quit half way through?

the bios on the chip is fine. the only time it might not be is if you had a v1.6b and an older x3 chip. It's the soldering or your installing it wrong. Just to put it into perspective the last time i put a chip in it took 10 straight hours of soldering before i got it right
