Ok where to start
I've just modded a second xbox with a x3 and the front panel and lcd screen.
v1.1 samsung dvd drive
And initially it booted fine to the x3 flash bios
Flashed it from there with the prior to current bios banks 1+2 and it booted to the x3 dash
Then the box wouldnt play backups that ran in my first box as it would freezze during the game credits prior to the loading screen (v1.1 samsun dvd, x2 lite, dvd+r media) so i had a look on the net and found the more current bios and flashed ths to banks 1 and 2.
Again everything went fine, booted to the x3 dash, lovely, but it still refused to play games , would stop after the game credits prior to the game loading screen or menue.
So i thought settings, had a play and got nothing useful out of it apart from a colourful flubber at one point.
A few cold reboots later and i was styill haveing no luck with the backupgames, normal ones were plaing fine.
I had a further play with settings trying to copy those of my x2, and then i had a play with a lcd screen message and this set and worked , but upon rebooting - the boxfroze at the XECUTER ROX MY BOX screen, still displaying my brothers witty "oli is cool" message on the LCD screen.
I thought never mind i'll reflash and everything will reset i'm sure, so i did. I reflashed the current bios (from cd) and the same problem occured (freezing at the XECUTER ROX MY BOX screen, still displaying the message on the lcd screen)
So i decided i'll put the old bios back on but this caused the tv to display no picture showing nothing.
I returened to the current bios again same problem occured (freezing at the XECUTER ROX MY BOX screen, still displaying the message on the lcd screen)
I even tried running the bios on the 2nd 1 mb bank but still had the same problem.
Came here and had a quick read, tried pressing the white button while booting - nothing hapened stayed at same problem occured (XECUTER ROX MY BOX screen, still displaying the message on the lcd screen)
And the tried a+b+x+y technique and nothing appeared to happen.
Now i was feeling pretty crap thinking i'd screwed the x3.
And therefore though well all i want it to do is play backups i flashed a 512 bank with the latest x2 bios using the flah bios and installed evox which runs and works, but still the backup games aren't loading having the same freeze problem even though all settings appear exactly the same as my other xbox.
Now evox is running i can ftp stuff to the xbox, so thats an option if it helps with any fixing ideas.
Now do you have anyideas what on earth has gone wrong and what i can do to fix it, I've tried to be as detialed as possible with my description of whats going on.
Looking arround i see suggestions of
Fixing the chips eeprom ? (like resetting the dashboard?)
Continuity Testing solder points? (show me what to test with the trusty mulltimeter)
Lifting the chip slightly on the header?
Pressing buttons on startup?
Or maybe my initial load problem was the dvd drive (but its the same as mine and i have no problems)
and finally turning the chip into firewood. (please no)
OR maybe its gunna be a mixture of those things?
Ideally i'd like the full use of the x3 compatabilities
But priority no1 is playing backups
Seeing the x3 dash again would be nice but also it working properly this time!
So what do you think?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance
