I have read and understood jp837's complete post, but I am not sure you have read understood my post. I have asked him to bring his controllers
AND his Xbox 360 to someone elses house to test. Sure the controllers have been carried back and forth and are tested and working - but there could be some sort of materials / signals where the current location of the Xbox 360 is that could be causing this problem. I am not sure why you even had to make that post and call me a "sizzle chest". Take a look at your own posts and don't just reply to a thread to try and dis and argue with others because their answers are not up to your high standards. I am sure jp837 will read my post and if he finds it helpful he will thank me or ask further questions, and if not, he will just ignore it - not a big deal.
jp837, please read through my post and see if it helps. Take a look at the Xbox 360 support page I liked to as well and see if there is anything you might have missed or forgotten to check.
If none of that seems to help - take your console apart and clean it out completely. Examine the RoL (ring of light) PCB screwed onto the front of the console. Make sure that it is not damaged (and that nothing around it is damaged) and that it is screwed and connected properly (remove the plastic cover on it and take a close look at it). Try connecting your controller to the console after that (do not reassemble the console yet). Make sure the controller is very close to the Xbox 360. Does it only disconnect when you start moving further away? When did this problem start to happen (When the console was relocated? When something new was placed near the console? Etc.)? Try replacing the RoL PCB and see if that works.
