Controller Problem

hey people. My friend is having a problem where his wireless controllers have random disconnections with his xbox 360. He called the xbox help line and they came to the conclusion that it was something wrong with the xbox. I'm pretty sure that they were right that the problem is due to the xbox because he has tried his wireless controllers on other xboxs and they work just fine and he has tried other people's working controllers on his xbox and they disconnect frequently. I have never heard of this before and i was just wondering if there is any fix out there that you can do without sending it to micro$oft who of course wants $100 to fix it.

Re: Controller Problem

Did you have a read through this:
http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/kb.aspx?id=911111&lcid=1033&category=hardware?

The Xbox 360 console uses 2.4GHz wireless technology with 30-foot range - so make sure you're within that 30-foot range and there are no other 2.4GHz devices around (like a cordless phone).

Have you tried taking your Xbox 360 consoles and controllers to someone else's house and seeing if they work there?

Shaking the controller or dropping it can also cause it to disconnect / turn off, but I'm sure that's not the case with you.

I have read and understood jp837's complete post, but I am not sure you have read understood my post. I have asked him to bring his controllers AND his Xbox 360 to someone elses house to test. Sure the controllers have been carried back and forth and are tested and working - but there could be some sort of materials / signals where the current location of the Xbox 360 is that could be causing this problem. I am not sure why you even had to make that post and call me a "sizzle chest". Take a look at your own posts and don't just reply to a thread to try and dis and argue with others because their answers are not up to your high standards. I am sure jp837 will read my post and if he finds it helpful he will thank me or ask further questions, and if not, he will just ignore it - not a big deal.

jp837, please read through my post and see if it helps. Take a look at the Xbox 360 support page I liked to as well and see if there is anything you might have missed or forgotten to check.

If none of that seems to help - take your console apart and clean it out completely. Examine the RoL (ring of light) PCB screwed onto the front of the console. Make sure that it is not damaged (and that nothing around it is damaged) and that it is screwed and connected properly (remove the plastic cover on it and take a close look at it). Try connecting your controller to the console after that (do not reassemble the console yet). Make sure the controller is very close to the Xbox 360. Does it only disconnect when you start moving further away? When did this problem start to happen (When the console was relocated? When something new was placed near the console? Etc.)? Try replacing the RoL PCB and see if that works.
