I have a modded Xbox with a 200Gb hard drive all perfect and full of exquisite titles, all for my own enjoyment, although my brother continues to come by my place to take off with my Xbox. I recently read about the new Xbox Media Center Edition 2005 OS for the Xbox and the Extender and wanted to know if this would be easily added into my applications list without formatting my drive, hence losing all my "illustrious wonders". I love the look of the new OS and would love to add it to my setup.

That shouldn't be a problem. Just place the folder containing all the files into the apps folder (or however you have it done) and your dashboard should look for the default.xbe in the folder, placing it on menu choices.

Hmmm, new version of XMBC? I'll have to check it out! Thanks! :D

By using the extender will I be able to use the Xbox as a PVR/DVR? I want to be able to record tv, but without having to pay the damn subscription fee that Replay and Tivo make you pay. My other option is to add a tv tuner card to my home PC and then later buy the extender for that purpose, but then my problem lies in which TV tuner card is best? I realize this is an Xbox forum. Sorry for asking this here. Any help will be appreciated.

you arent going to be able to record TV on your xbox. period.

most cable companies have DVR service as a part of digital cable. and it costs 5-10 bucks extra a month. no equipment to buy. good deal.
