I modded my V1.6 Xbox with an X3 and 120WD HD. Everthing works. I FTP into my xbox and play online W/ xbconnect. But i cant disable my chip. I am taking apart my xbox to put in the X3 display. I was wondering what i should resolder to fix my problem.

Any help appreciated.

Finding out current Offical Firmware

Hello, I'm new to the 360 modding scene, so I was wondering, how do I find out what official firmware is currently on it?

Re: Finding out current Offical Firmware

EDIT: you have to look at the type of dvd drive you have, by taking apart your xbox, to find out what type of firmware your xbox has

Re: Finding out current Offical Firmware

But, doesn't the firmware get updated from xbox live?

Re: Finding out current Offical Firmware

ok, are you talking about what version of dashboard you have?

or are you talking about the type of dvd drive?

be a little more specific here, please

Re: Finding out current Offical Firmware

haha, well that's an easier question to answer

go to the "System Settings" then "Console Settings" then "System Info" if you have the NXE dashboard

the number after K.02 (or something to that order) is your kernel (which is probably what you are looking for)
its a four digit number

if you have the old, yellow dashboard, its in the system blade, and in system info as well

Re: Finding out current Offical Firmware

Alright, thank you very much!
Just because at the moment it's quicker for me to ask, I wanted to replace the CPU key on my 360 since I bought it banned, does it have to be the old dashboard? Because I know it can't be anything over 849x
So I was wondering, is anything below 849x the older dashboard, and above the newer?

Re: Finding out current Offical Firmware

actually, the kernel has to be BELOW 849x, at 849x they blew efuses that allow the exploitation in JTAG...so you need a kernel of 7xxx or lower

(this basically means you need the old style dashboard)

Re: Finding out current Offical Firmware

also, if you are looking to unban a box you don't change the CPU key (you can't)

you are looking to REPLACE the keyvault of the NAND. Therefore you need to extract the keyvault of an unbanned xbox and paste that into the banned xbox's NAND, effectively changing the xbox's LIVE identity

however, odds are this is detectable and will be banned again shortly

Re: Finding out current Offical Firmware

Ah, well, I have the new dashboard anyways. So I suppose I couldn't unban it anyways.
