got the same problem (except that amber light flashing right after power on and fan is blowing like crazy, then xbox going off, then on, then on again and finally off).. but sometime (after 10-15 minutes ) it powers up boots to msdash (no chip now, only ping header installed) for 30 sec then going down with crazy fan and amber light... going to try remove pin header and see if it helps (at least to get xbox working for 20-30 mins)
if you have a v.1.0 box most likely it's your pin header installation, remove it and try a wire install =)

before j-tag,removing R6T3 Resistor

I'm planning of t-taging my exploitable 360,but I want be doing it anytime soon,I just brought fifa 10 and want to play it but this game requires an update and could possibley (from what I've read) update my dash ti an 8.0....... dash,My question is If I remove the R6t3 resistor and update the console to play fifa 10 (games that require updates) will I still be able to j-tage my console at a later date, say if I remove the resistor then update to dash 8.0.....etc...?

Thanks,

Re: before j-tag,removing R6T3 Resistor

Instead of doing that, there is a Safer And Easier Alternative To Removing The R6T3 Resistor (E-Fuse Protection).

If you remove R6T3 [or bridge the two solder points on the underside of the 360 motherboard], it will prevent the CB revocation fuse from burning when you update; resulting in E80. In that case, you can simply flash back your old dump
There are also some programs available that remove the update, and other unimportant files, from the game so you don't have to worry about this. But if you stay up to date with rebooter versions you shouldn't be asked for updates.

Re: before j-tag,removing R6T3 Resistor

So removing or soldering the resistor will give me when I need to update to play a game the e80 error. If I don't need to do this in order to play my games and I don't want to update my dash so I can't jtag my console, what is the other alternative?

Removing the resistor or bridging the two solder points will NOT give you E80. You will only get E80 if the resistor is removed (or if the two points are bridged) AND an update is applied to the console but fails (since it won't be able to update - which is what you want). If this happens all you have to do is flash another image to the NAND. I recommend you follow the link I gave you and bridge those two points.

If you are being asked to update all the time, then flash your NAND with a newer version of the rebooter you are using (XBReboot or freeBOOT). What rebooters do is basically boot to an updated and patched dash without burning e-fuses.

You can also remove the system update files from the game so your system can't be updated from that game.

Are you planning on JTAGing the Xbox 360 yourself? If you are then you should wait for NAND-X to be released which will make it much easier to do. Team Xecuter will also be releasing a good tut on how to JTAG your console (there is already a quick guide on their forums on how to do it).

Re: before j-tag,removing R6T3 Resistor

Yeah I've heard about the Nand-x connection kit,I thought It was out in April but I've just checked and now they say may.

I am planningh of jtaging my console but not yet,In the mean time I want to be able to play on it,with out the possibilty of it becoming un-jagable.

I'm going to bridge pins 2-3 of UT61.I will then be playing on my console until I decide or when the Nand-x finally gets released.

say if I am getting asked for updates alot can I reboot and patch a dash without the console being j-taged?

System updates for the game, how do I remove them, still j-tag?

:D
