x3 Install Troubles

Hi,

I'll make a long story short.

I got an xbox version 1.6, tried to install the x3 on it, thought my soldering skills were okay, screwed it up, bought another off eBay that already had the LCP rebuild and D0 done, soldered the 5v, HDD, and LAN light, put on x3, put everything back in.. and I've got errors.

As far as I can tell the x3 is working fine. I can boot into x3 mode, stock mode, and backup mode. However, flashbios gives me a hard drive error, and the stock mode stops and says my xbox needs service.

Here is a picture of what FlashBIOS looks like.

I've tried to search around for my problem, and I'll find bits and pieces, but nothing that perfectly matches this. I might be searching for the wrong thing.

Anywho..

That's what I see.

I bought a 300gig to stick in my xbox, but wasn't planning on doing that mod until later. I tried putting that in and seeing if I got the same error, and nope. It runs just like it should, waiting for a BIOS.

So, something happened, I'm just not sure what. I don't know if I can install my 300gig because don't you need files off the 10gig to do that?

Thanks,

-emu

Put your hard disk (any xbox prepped disk) and DVD back in and try that again

HDD pver 137 GB

Exactly that...

Flash your chip with an x3 bios that supports LBA 48.

As it stands you xbox cannot address the HDD without extended bios support which comes with 1959 for example.

As with any upgrade do things one at a time...that way if it begins to error it's not so difficult to find the source of the problem and rectify.

One u have the chip flashed
Do the following to get you Hard disk installed and operational.

1. leave stock HDD in Xbox
2. Boot to XBL and configure for FTP.
3. FTP all of drive C: & E: to your PC Hard drive.
4. Replace with new HDD
5. Prepare disk using config live (ie all partition to F or F&G it's up to u)
6. Format the partitions using config live
7. Reboot and enter config live
8 ftp back to Xbox and transfer C & E drives form PC to relevant locations.

In config live lock the drive if u wish to use the original m$ dash (hold pwr in)...for example if using XBL
.
Done

Is that the stock drive that came in that box? the only time i have seen that issue is when i plug a drive in the xbox that was locked in a different xbox.

you don't need to flash a bios to fix this quite yet but if you want to go ahead and flash it you will be fine.

Sorry...didn't read your flashbios screen properly...this error is with the 10G drive. I thought you had the 300G installed.

so...
First make sure this is the HDD shipped with the xbox...i see that you replaced your xbox from ebay.

or flash bios via http ... install your new hdd and use slayer auto installer disk to fix it up with original m$ etc.
