i just installed the x3 chip and flashed it with the 1959 bios, all thanks to the search function on this forum - thanks!

but now i can't connect to xblive (for my post-mod halo2 fix). i haven't been banned either since that's a very specific message. also, i haven't changed my hard drive which i hear is a major cause of bannage.

i connect through a wireless network using microsoft's mn-740 wireless xbox adapter - into a linksys WRE54G range expander and finally into a linksys WRT54GS to DSL. i know, it seems complicated but it all works fine. i was playing xbox live yesterday.

i feel like i've done everything right. the mod chip install went smoothly, i checked that the xecuter logo was red (boots to ms dash) but still it fails to connect to live. the live error message reads (communication error and babbles something about my MTU's being too low...which is rubbish. i haven't changed anything on my router and again...i was playing yesterday!)

so the only change in the equation has been the X3....has anyone had this problem and figured out a way around it?

thanks in advance for your responses.

dij

ps. yes i've been searching this forum till i'm blue in the face so unless you'd like to point me to a specific link, please don't tell me to try searching! :)

yes, i thought i mentioned that..i held down the power button for 2-3 sec and got the red logo meaning the chip was off and the regular ms dash was loaded.. there's nothing i have to do with the dip switches is there? i assumed that i just left them the way they were when i flashed the bios.

i should add that it's a 1.0 xbox if that means anything...

if the chip is disabled and when you try to connect it gives u an error u either got banned or your net connection is not right, u need to go into network properties of the xbox and see if it gives u a error

i'm quite sure i'm not banned since i haven't connnected yet. also, you get a specific message when you're banned saying you have modified hardware or software.

the network properties screen says i have 'cables connected' , 'ip address confirmed' and 'DNS resolved' all signs that things are good. only xbox live fails.

in the advanced properties where you can asses the ICMP and MTU status of the network as well as the NAT level i get 0 for each ICMP and MTU and an NAT level of strict, all which indicate failure of XBOX Live. This is IMPOSSIBLE i believe because each of these are in fact router issues and i have 7 other machines all happily connecting to the internet, playing online games etc.. and again...before the X3, it all worked.

if those are zero then your router is not setup right/ incompatible with XL tell me the exact brand and model number of your router and I will tell you how to fix it.

thanks for the responses redd - the router is a linksys WRT54GS (wired/wireless) which i'm pretty sure is on the xblive compatibliity list - but regardless if it is or not - i have been playing xblive for months with no problems until i installed the X3 chip.

sounds like a router firewall issue to me

drop the firewall on the router, or search for whatever port xblive uses and open that port

thanks for the suggestions, i'll try power cycling everything in the chain and i'll double check the ports but that is probably not it since it was just working. as for removing the X3...well, i think i'll just wait until i've exhausted all other avenues of possiblity before i try that. but thanks.

yes, i figured it was going to be simple but not that simple. i powered down my DSL modem and my router and my xbox, then powered them up again dsl first, router second then finally the xbox. tuned it on with mod chip disabled and booted in to xblive.

thanks again NeOnRaBbIt and all of you who took the time to help a nOOb ....now let's see how long i can go without getting banned!

*Didn't feel like readin 2 pages, so sorry if this was previously stated*

go to network settings in teh x3 live config and change the DHCP to enabled. then turn ur xbox off, wait 5 seconds and turn it on with the chip disabled. xbl should b workin, but if it doesnt, go to the network settings section in teh MS dash and check all the settings so they are set to "Automatic"

when i first got my x3, all my sh*t was set to manual, and i had to configure it so i could get a static ip that always worked with xbl. tinker with that sh*t.

Set Blaster CK3 to Vendor Mode From LT 1.0 to 1.1?

I have a Blaster CK3 and was wondering if I need to set my Xbox to vendor mode again (half-ejected dvd tray) to update my LT 1.0 to 1.1?

Or is the vendor mode only needed to extract the DVD key when I first started, and I can now just switch the "Power" to On and the main switch to "PC" on the Blaster CK3 to write the new firmware?

I've had a lot of problems with Jungleflasher before with it freezing constantly (even when deleting the VIA chipset drivers) so I just used JF to get the key and create the dummy.bin and then used DOSFlash to write.
