I just installed an X3 on a crystal edition 1.6B which has the Hynix RAM. Everything works correctly but I am getting no display for the modchip. Just a black screen with just the tap start and blue light or same black screen with the hold start and eject to force boot from Cromwell backup ver 3.0.x. Just holding the start button for a second boots to the normal Microsoft dash. I have read that the chip has to have the Cromwell backup ver 3.0.3 in order to work when installed on a version 1.6B XBOX. Where do I find that version and how do I get it installed on the modchip?????

HoBoZ: Thanks for the reply bud. The link to that thread appears to be dead when I click on it.

Check your switch settings before you boot. Most of the resellers are including FlashBIOS 3.0.1 on banks 1, 2, 3, and 4 and FlashBIOS 3.03 on banks 5, 6, 7, and 8. Try booting to each 256k banks 5-8 or the 1MB combo of 5-8 set on the switch.

After you get a boot, make sure to set your switch to the 1st 1MB combo of banks 1-4 (switch settings on, on, off, off). You’ll find the switch settings guide in the FAQ forum.

1911Wolf: Thanks for the info. The 3.0.3 flash was on the 5678 bank. Booted to the flash screen, reset the switches for the 1MB bank 1234 and flashed the modchip without a problem. Working perfectly. Thanks again for the info. Wish I had known about the ver1.6B earlier as I have played around with this modchip for hours trying to get into the flash screen. Live and learn, I guess.

Glad to hear it, enjoy the X3! :)
