X3 installed, X turns blue but no video

i have a 1.6b crystal edition (Hynix ram) and i have the X3 chip.

X3 is installed, quick tap on power and both 3.3 and 5V lights come on inside, the X on the front panel turns blue but no video. not long after the front of the xbox turns and remains at a solid orange. pressing and holding power boots xbox into stock dashboard, with the X on the switch panel turned red. insert a game CD and it works fine.

i have tried changing the dips on the switch panel to try booting to 3.0.3 bios (as explained in this forum) but no luck at all.

my first question is, am i finished with soldering - is their enough in what i said above to indicate my solder points are done properly?

what must i do now? get my chip re-flashed with 3.0.3? what are my options? how do i do this? thanks.

are you using the stock av cables? if not, use the stock av cables for flashbios, then flash 1959, then set up what you need to do with other cables.

CL - I have the same experience. You will get a lot of responses of resoldering, make sure the 13 & 14 are soldered correctly, check your voltage, check your connectivity. I will tell you my experience. I have done all that and still get the same results. However I was able to get to a flash bios screen once and it stated 3.0.1, so i tried to flash to the 3.0.3 bios so it would be a more reliable flashbios to boot to. I got the yellow bar then the green progress bar, only to have it fail in the end. The best luck you can have is to have another xbox that has x3 installed and do a hotswap of the chip to flash your chip with the 16plus bios. Since I don't have that option I am forced to send the chip back to the reseller and have them ensure that 3.0.3 is installed on my chip. I hope this helps you. The other thing to try is all the banks. If you goto the bios flash section there is a nice sticky on the banks available and how to configure your external switch. My understandin is that 303 should be on all the banks except the first set of 256 banks (on the diagram in the sticky), these banks have 301. However I don't believe all the chips have been programmed with 303. hope you end up with a success story, I still have my fingers crossed for myself.

I have the exact same problem, i have tried everything and looks like my last resort is to return it to the store to have it reflashed with the correct flashbios for my v1.6b xbox!

ColdLazarus:
Sounds very much like you need flashbios v3.0.3, the symptoms you describe sound like your install is good so I wouldn't mess with it at the moment.
Have you tried booting with your switches set to:
on, on, off, off, off
off, on, off, off, off
if that doesn't work you need to get your chip flashed with flashbios 3.0.3 (or the latest X3 bios for the v1.6 xbox), the reseller you brought you chip off should be able to put flashios 3.0.3 on it for you.

gixster92:
Do you definetly have a v1.6b xbox? If you managed to get flashbios 3.0.1 up on the screen you probably don't. Flashbios 3.0.3 is generally only for v1.6b xboxes, it's doesn't work on v1.6 xboxes, see here:
http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6148

(This used to be a sticky before the upgrade, if any of the admins are reading this you may wanna make it sticky again :)

Generally if you get a flashbios screen up, don't worry about changing the flashbios version, it's really only there to let you upgrade to the lastest X3 bios version, that's it, v3.0.3 was only created to solve the v1.6b problem.

Hope this helps a bit.

Hudson, Yes I definately have 1.6b. I was able to get the 3.0.1 on the screen three times and the flash failed each time. Once I got the chip back from the reseller with 3.0.3 on every thing has been working great. I must say. spite the frustration I had with this chip and flashing it, it is a great chip with a lot of great features. Thanks to all that have helped me and give me other opportunities to look at.

no no no no no no no

13 and 14 is AFTER you have flashed the bios - this has zero to do with FlashBIOS - its to do with the X3 Bios
