X3 Live Menu and EvoX

I just got a Pre modded box delivered with the excellent X3 chip and I'm looking into putting in another drive.

My question is about the X3 Live menu, is it chip based or are their files on my standard harddrive that correspond to this menu??? I ask because I have the Slayer 2.6 EvoX installer disk and when you boot it, it offers a format drives option. If the Live menu is chip based then I guess I can go ahead and install the drive and use the disk to install evo X, but if not what files do I save??

Thanks for your time

You can just us X3 Config Live to format your new HDD. If it's larger than 136gigs you want to set the option to format it /w LBA with F gets all or f gets aprx. 125 and G gets rest.

If you enable the G drive make sure you enable it in all other dashboards you're planning on using.

X3 Config live has everything you need to do anything. All you need /w this chip is a dashboard of your choice ie. EvolutionX, Avalaunch or XBMC.

The X3 Config Live is part of the BIOS ...it's not run on the hard drive but the chip instead. You'll probably want to make sure you backup your C:\ though - as those are the MS system files ... and probably your E:\ which are your saved games

Need help with Liteon 74850c

Today i flashed a Liteon 74850c drive with Ixtreme Lt firmware. I used Maximus Usb Xtractor to retrieve the key & while flashing everything worked fine but when i try to play any disks i get the open tray error. I thought i would be able to reflash it but in the jungleflasher pdf tutorial it says i need to use the "Mra Method" to dump and retrieve the dummy.bin. I already have the dummy, key, etc from when i attempted to flash it the first time. Is there a way i can return my drive to the original firmware or reflash it without doing the Mra method. I dont think i want to buy the lt switch either since i dont know how to solder well.

if you have the original bin file then just load it as source and target and flash it again . ive done this afew times , but really just retry the lt firmware and make sure you get it from jungleflasher.net load ur original as source and load lt as target then click spoof and once keys match click save and carry on.

I tried to do that but it wont work. I think it works differently for Liteon's. I cant load dummy.bin as the target firmware. Any other suggestions? from anyone?

Re: Need help with Liteon 74850c

are you sure you got the right key? liteons are bad for giving dodgy keys therefore bricking your 360. did you spoof the key into another drive before doing the liteon erase? you should do this really to test that the dumped key is the right one.

load your dummy.bin as source and get the orig 74850 off xbins and load this as target then click spoof source to target and try to reflash that and then see if itll play originals.

Re: Need help with Liteon 74850c

I havent tried spoofing it into another drive but i did try the orig. fw. already. On the Ixtreme and Team-xecuter forums they say that when flashing a liteon it's best to remove the laser ribbon because if not it can destroy the laser.
A few people also said after replacing the laser everything was working fine. I didnt remove the ribbon when flashing so could that have been my problem?

i heard the same thing on the xecuter website, never experienced it myself but like i say ive been told that it can happen. looks like youll have to get a new laser and try that. you can get them for about £9 off ebay.

Well thanks Flashing and everyone else too. I guess I'll buy a new laser. Since i would be getting a new laser anyway would trying the pot tweak hurt? but i don't have a multimeter..
