I have the x3 and have installed it for 6 of my friends. Thank you for a great product.

I was wondering if xecuter could give us an official statement to let us know if MS could scan and detect the X3 on the LPC port when the chip is supposed to be disabled. What are the odds that this is happening since the X3 is so new and this ban technique had to be months in the making.

(I tried to search and found no official statement from xecuter)

A smile goes a long way.
On the fly bios editing & X3 LPC SCAN

I've read as many forum posts as possible. In trying to keep ahead of all the new xbl banning i've noticed it's mainly/only X3 owners are experiencing (or assume to be experiencing) LPC Scans.

Is there anything other than LPC Scanning which could be causing the colour of the X3 panel to change to backup?

Is it possible for this to be related to the X3's ability (/architecture) to edit alot of settings on the fly?

The ppl who did get banned probably are just blaiming it on the x3 bc it was there own fault that they got banned bc they probably did something stupid.

xbox360 keeps shutting off

Hi everyone.

Bit of a back story. A friend of mine said his DVD drive stopped working in his 360 Elite which turned out to be a Hitachi v79FK model. I read up a bit and read they are one of the most difficult to flash. The good news is, it's not the drive I want to flash, it's the drive I want to spoof.

He bought a replacement BenQ drive model VAD6038 or it says hw version J-DA1A4. Anyways, he says it was one of the easier drives to flash and such (which I haven't researched myself)

I'm having problems with the xbox 360 shutting off on me when I'm in the middle of trying to get the WAV file to play, as the drive is struggling to read any discs it takes a while for it to eventually read it.

Obviously if I've gotten to this point, I've successfully loaded up slax, got the drive into modeB, windows is recognizing it, I've burn the wav file properly and the drive begins to auto-play the file but it stops part way through and ejects the disc on me.

So I keep trying it over and over and over again. I did get it to eventually play the wav file completely once, played it again and paused immediately, went to run the unlocker and the xbox shut off randomly. I'm really annoyed with this because I know eventually I will get this damn drive unlocked and have the firmware dumped on my PC and I can be done with the drive.

I've looked online and haven't been able to find anything related to my issue...even if I keep ejecting the tray over and over it still will shut off randomly, this last time it actually shut off mid-eject and the tray is halfway out.

I don't have another way of powering up the drive right now so doing it through the 360 is my only option at the moment. I read somewhere about some kind of power switch but I am not a very good solderer....

Oh and I forgot to mention, the reason I'm doing all this is because my friend is sick and tired of it, doesn't want to fix it, and will sell me the xbox (elite), with 2 controllers headset, bunch of games, etc for $100. Just wants to get rid of it. How can I pass that up!?

I DON'T want to get the XBOX banned from Live though. Does spoofing the drive put you in danger of that? I know a LOT of people that got hit with the ban hammer recently and I don't want to burn/copy games I will buy the games I really want to play.

Any suggestions?

**EDIT** Oh and I wonder, if it's simply a drive read problem, maybe I can take the drive apart and try cleaning the lense and see if it works after that. The drive was making some NASTY noises though. the little metal thing in the centre of the spindle that holds the disc in place actually came out and was stuck on the upper case on the plastic thing that moves around on the top when i took the drive apart. (I guess it's magnetic). So I krazy glue'd it in place and it's not making crazy sounds anymore, but still won't read discs. Maybe I should try cleaning the lense before I go through all this firmware spoofing drive swapping hassle.

Re: xbox360 keeps shutting off

just use jungle flasher then you don't have to mess with the slax disc.

jungleflasher.net

also download the users guide and follow it word for word

also make sure the spindle motor spins freely if it feels sticky then
that's your problem.. i wrote a tutorial on how to fix that problem
it's in the tutorials section on this website

Re: xbox360 keeps shutting off

Is it possible to put do drive swapping/spoofing without putting modded firmware to play backed up games?

I'm reading the jungleflasher tutorial and it says to use these iextreme firmwares but those are modded aren't they? I don't want the console to get banned from xbox live!

Re: xbox360 keeps shutting off

Jungleflasher won't detect the hitachi drive for some reason.

I've made sure Windows 7 will install unsigned drivers uding the directions the JF tutorial shows. It says driver loaded successfully in the log of Jungleflasher when I open it up.

the dvd drive is plugged in and powerd up, I go to the hitachi tab and it doesn't have the drive in the vendor info. I cycled through all of the ports with the drop down thing but it's not found anywhere.

Also, the "WinAPI" button is selected and "PortIO" is greyed out....

I don't have a VIA sata chipset, I have nVidia or Silicon Image...I'm not sure because both are listed in the device manager...

I'm not content with JungleFlasher so far, as I was able to get the drive into ModeB using the SLAX method, but the 360 keeps shutting off.

How can I power it up without the xbox 360?

i know this may seem really ovious but you have got the av cable attach to xbox have you, as this cause xbox to shut off after some time?

Or if he never reapplied thermal compound, it could be overheating rapidly which is causing it to shut off. Just an idea but still plausible

Re: xbox360 keeps shutting off

no I didn't have the HDMI cable hooked up, maybe that's why. My friend said it worked perfectly fine before the drive died, so I doubt it's overheating.

I'm not going to do it anymore, there's a guy in town that has been modding xbox's since they came out, and all the other consoles too and he said he can replace and spoof the drives for me for 40 bucks so I'm going to let him do it.

He said you can't do it with the default firmware of the drives though, so the xbox will be modded as well.

Is he telling me the truth? Or can you do it with the default unmodded firmware too? I was under the impression that you could.
