I am new to this...but everything seemed to solder on just fine...all connections look fine... (i may take pics of it soon and post them) but everytime I boot, it boots mod chip disabled (red X). I have 5v blue light and the other blue light on the chip on. D0 looked fine, but I read that may be the problem, but alas, i resoldered it a couple times but no go...I am using the pcb rebuild board thing, not the wires...any other solder points to check? I looked all of them over a couple times to look for something maybe that i didnt get well..but it all looks fine :(

another thing i noticed...if I hold the power button like i was trying to boot w/ mod disabled, then turn it off, then turn it back on, it goes through the FRAG thing (powers on/off couple times, then blinks)

well...strange...but if i press power and eject...it loads into flashbios... now i am confused... it says 3.0.1, doesnt xbox 1.6 need 3.0.3? i remember reading that...but i didnt think it wouldnt boot to it because of it...if it wasnt hooked up right, i wouldnt be able to get into the backup bios right? :?

Lite-on 74850c

I was replacing my lite-on drive with a new lite-on drive since my old one was giving me a few problems when playing games both backups and original disk. Now that I have replace the drive and flashed the new one with the original drive key I put the xbox back together and went to test it out, When I tested it I can open the drive with the xbox I place a backup or a original disk in and close the drive wait a bit and it dose not read the disk at all it will go back to saying open. what could have went wrong?

Re: Lite-on 74850c

what you don't know when you buy a new drive...

your probably buying a used pull from a 3rod xbox.
so it could have issues with a bad laser.
when they say they tested the drive, that means they
have put it in a working console and put a movie in it
to see if it will play the movie dvd.

this is a problem because if the laser is bad or weak it
will play the dvd movies but not 360 games.

so you can try to tweak the laser pot down to 3.9k but don't
go lower then 3.5k ohms.

if this doesn't work then you'll have to replace the laser.

this is why i rebuild drives and not order replacements.

Re: Lite-on 74850c

it will not even play a dvd it reads no data at all from the drive. So the sites that say the drives a new drives not used ones are still just used drives from rrod xbox 360? I did not know that.
