X3 No red X disable light - Can't boot to M$ Dash

I'm helping a friend mod his 1.6 box with an X3 chip. Everything seems to work fine except we cannot get the chip to disable correctly. When we hold down the power button to disable, no Red X disable light comes on the switch. It then produces error 13. Also, if we boot to the backup (holding eject & power) it will boot the backup BIOS, but the red light still won't come on (meaning the X light is just blue in stead of "purple"). Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the help.

P.S. - We can get to the M$ BIOS by accessing it from EvoX, but we cannot boot to it.

there are a few possibilities:

the cables are loose -unlikely
you unlocked your harddrive -likely
you renamed the default ms dashboard -unlikely
your C partition somehow got screwed up -very likely

right behind you
another possiblity, a very probable one too....

you messed up the left side of your d0 trace
this would cause only the x3 bios to be bootable

but if that is the case then there must be something else wrong as welll considering that his x3 wont boot either. I recommend tinkering around until you fix it. just try ever single thing you would do when anything at all was wrong.

^ If they knew what to do everytime something went wrong, there'd be no real need for tech support would there?

I dunno about the D0 point. A bad solder would cause it to continuiously boot to the ms dash and not the modchip.

Start taking things off in reverse order from the way you installed them. If that doesn't do the trick touch up your solder points/inspect your solder points. Sounds like it may be something to do with the power eject daughter board. How long are you holding the power button for?

I held the buttons long enough for the X3 not to boot. I just dont know why the red light in not working on the chip. Do you think it has something to do with one of the pin headers being smaller than the other?

Re: Liteon 74850 !!!

To reflash do I need to connect the probe again or just go directly loading the lt 1.1 as originl and the lt plus, erase and write ???

Re: Liteon 74850 !!!

Not if you have the original dummy\files, Plus you can't redump LT unless you do the MRA hack (cut traces on your drives pcb and solder bridges)
So load the dummy bin and spoof to LT+ , Erase and write. (make sure your in vendor mode though  if it doesn't work the 1st time just hit intro drive and go through the steps again until it does.
From JF tut:
"DON’T PANIC IF IT DOESN’T ENTER VENDOR MODE FIRST TIME OR IF YOUR DRIVE IS NOW
NOT SHOWING UP AND WILL NO LONGER EJECT
– SIMPLY PRESS INTRO AND CYCLE DRIVE POWER – IF STILL NOT IN VENDOR MODE, TRY
ERASING AGAIN!"
