Hi,

I have a xbox v1.6 and have installed it. Ther's only one blu LED lighting up on the x3chip (the one near alternate 5v connection). The other near the LCD connector dosen't light up. I have measured the voltage on the LPC pin, i looked at the lpc guide for 1.0 to 1.5 and on pin 3 and 9 I have 0V and the guide says it should be 3.3V is this right for xbox 1.6 also?

Any other sugestions what could be wrong?

Yes, you should have a 3.3v connection at this location. (also, the 3.3v led should be ON).

the 3.3V is linked to PIN 15 on your header, you may want to check this, and make sure it is making a proper connection.

I have also encountered someone that didn't insert the X3 chip in the pin header, which caused the same problem. I'm assuming your not this dumb.

There is a sticky on the 3.3v problem. Go there.

No 3.3v on X3

Added: My problem was a poor connection between pin 15 and one side of capacitor C7D2, the 3.3v source for the X3. I resoldered pin 15 to the motherboard and with good connectivity my 3.3v problem was solved.

Recover DVD key from NAND dump

This may not work for everyone however, I managed to save my mates falcon XBOX from disaster after a lite-on erase, failed dump and reversed power cord. Yep, he pretty much did every error in the book. I recovered the DVD key using the tutorials listed below and replaced the drive with a spoofed BenQ. Everthing is now working well. I am not sure if the latest dash update will block raw dumping of the NAND or not. If your Xbox is dead anyway then you have nothing to loose but time in trying.

Find out which motherboard you have
http://beta.ivancover.com/wiki/index.php/Xbox_360_Revisions#Xenon

See tutorials for the board type below:
Falcon - www.ps3news.com/XBox-3...-released/
Zephyr - www.ps3news.com/XBox-3...-released/
Xenon - www.ps3news.com/XBox-3...ip-needed/

You will need to wire up a Jtag xploit cable for use with nandpro2, ignore the 330ohm resistors they are for the Xenon only. It says you need an SSP parallel port, I set my IBM to dual channel only in the BIOS and it worked fine. I had to use the switching diode shown in one of the diagrams below, without the diode nandpro choose an incorrect FlashConfig to start the dump resulting in garbage.

You will then need to crack the key vault using the CPU key. See tutorial below. Note, it works using the component cable on the TV. You will get a blank screen if using a HDMI cable.

The following tutorial is also worth a read before starting

Add you success or failures to this post.
Good luck.

Cheers

the cpu key and the dvdkey and the drive model on the screen as
it's booting.....

Re: Recover DVD key from NAND dump

Will Xell only show the drive key if the drive firmware is still intact? The reason we are doing all of this is because the drive firmware has been lost.

I would be interested to know if a Xell hacked nand can be installed onto a newer 09' console for the purposes of obtaining the DVD drive data. If this can be done then we would have a workaround for the un-dumpable lite-ons. You would just have to manually spoof the data into the Ix firmware then erase and flash.

I am also interested to know if this whole procedure is blocked by the latest dashboard updates.

Sorry to keep bumping this, but for those who are interested in this hack there is quite a nice tutorial in PDF format available from Eurasia: http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=6189&ttitle=XeLL_JTAG_Hack_Tutorial, You will need a login to download.

This may be possible, but you need 2 things, you need a motherboard to attach the mod chip to, then you need a kernel that can be hacked, but essentially yes that would be a very expensive painful process to get the key.

Re: Recover DVD key from NAND dump

You only need the mod chip if you want to run an alternate NAND on boot. You can just overwrite the exisiting NAND and then copy back the original when finished.

The components required for the cable are virtually free, you only need an old parallel cable and the diodes and resistors can be taken from any old PCBs.

Re: Recover DVD key from NAND dump

Yeah I have done a Falcon recently Dumped nand, flashed xell got CPU key then ran it thru 360 flash tool to get DVD key .
Flashed nand back and spoofed a drive with info and all good .

Re: Recover DVD key from NAND dump

So correct me if I am wrong:
I got the nand dumps, got xenon_hack.bin flashed - this should be enough to get the cpu_key?

at this moment after xenon_hack my box ends up with rrod after about 1 min ( cooling efficient ) - no video - using component RGB ( and is VGA hack/adapter required? )

kernel : 6690 / 2007 dash

source :

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=690640&pid=4525757&mode=threaded&show=&st=&#entry4525757

thanks

update: i did revert back to 6690 to check the jtag dump backup - looks good

Re: Recover DVD key from NAND dump

I finally after 2 days I was able to do the nand dump, I used this tut:

http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=6189

It has a bit different wiring for the smc jtag, no 330ohm resistors... but two switching diodes instead. I think it would work also with the 330ohms since I did add the both diodes and the resistors connected on both bridges.

First I updated the kernel from 6690 to 7371 - good
flashed "Xell Xenon 2009-08-24" ( newxell.bin ) - got 3 RROD

newxell.bin:
http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=6038

than "Xell Xenon 1921 2009-08-29 (small h50 blocks dump - xenon_1921hack.bin ) - booted into the xell kernel, got the CPU-key....
http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=6044

so the NAND dump was good, got the DVDkey... but, there got to be always something that goes wrong :? - it came out to be a liteon drive, and of course i do not have that drive... so the inquiry bin/string is not present..... so if you know how to get that data from the nand, plz let me know,

Thanks

update:
using the tut ( link above ) i did recover 2 more lost dvd keys with success on a xenon bd...
also, you can flash directly "Xell Xenon 1921 2009-08-29" - about 1.3MB dump on top of the 7371 kernel - the trick that saves a lot of time is:
if you restore the original f/w use this syntax:

nandpro.exe lpt: -w16 origfw.bin 0 50

it will overwrite the xell only without writing whole 16MB of your original flash ( in this example it will write just 51 blocks - 0-50 )

Do 3 or 4 dumps and compare them they should be the same. A couple of bad blocks is normal. If you have loads of errors then then I would not trust the dump.

Try and open the NAND dump with the 360 flash tool. If it won't read the file try and dump again.

Things to try:
1) shorter cable.
2) check all connections.
3) try using zenor or switching diode on the leg shown.
4) use the 100ohm resistors on the legs shown.

Re: Recover DVD key from NAND dump

how long does it take to get a nand dump ?
I'm using an older laptop to run nandpro.exe and not not sure if its just slow because of that.
Ok after I get 2 files and they are similar how do upload load xell bin and get cpu and dvd key.
I have a Falcon board and I have looked and found instructions but can't figure out what to do next. Thanks
I just did the LPT connection and not JTAG yet.

Ok it just finished I think around 16.5bm running it again and gonna compare them but they should be ok.

So I guess next is to flash Xell to it ?
Do I save my Nand.bin to flash back to it later ?
