X3 on a 1.6 won't boot (HELP!)

This is the second 1.6 that I've installed an X3 chip on and I guess I'm shooting 50%. The first one went off without a hitch and has been working fine since October. The second.....not so well. I rebuilt the LPC port using wires (not the template) and all the connections seem fine. When you turn on the box, there is a blue light from the X3 chip itself....but nothing from the switch mounted on the front of the x-box. It doesn't matter how you power on the x-box....there are no LED's on the switch. I've checked the wiring and everything seems OK. The x-box boots up as per normal and then sits at the green screen of death mentioning something about calling tech support. (This is because I've swapped out the HD and she's not happy about it.) So, as far as I can tell, the mod is not functioning at all and the X-box is using it's default BIOS. Any ideas on this one?

Oh, and another thing. Why is there a descrepancy between the LPC port rebuid for the 1.6 in the installation guide here: http://www.teamxecuter.com/x3/tutorials/x3pin16.htm
and the traces used on the 1.6 rebuild template that I got with my X3? The template has a trace that jumpers pins 15 and 9 together on the LPC. The LPC rebuild, using wires, on the guide does not show this connection at all. Is it needed? What does it do? If it is needed, why is it not shown on the LPC rebuild in the guide above. I'm a little confused by this. Any help on either of these points would be great. Thanks.

do you have 1 blue led lit on the chip or 2? pins 9,15 are connected to give you a better chance at getting your 3.3v

I have exactly the same problem.. I installed the chip, flashed the bios, (which worked fine).. and not long after it stopped working and just booted as if it was a normal xbox.. also the led thing I cannot tell since they are on the underside of the chip but I will try and get a peek. Also I checked and doublce checked all the various plugs going into the chip and they are all secure.. and tried switching back to the orginal switch (although I am/was pretty sure it was nothing to do with this piece of hardware) I will do a close inspection of all my solder points again just for good meausre but I am fairly sure they are all soldered fine. Oh and my flashbios version is 3.0.0 and I am on an xbox 1.6, and I used the lpc rebuild pcb..and finally this may be related I am not sure.. I noticed that their is an updated flashbios version that supports v1.6 boxes but I did not read anything on it being essential on updating and since it appeared to work fine I left it alone.

Oh and in regards to the led question what if only one led is on ? and the significance of 2 leds being on?

Upate:

Ok I checked everything and all the solders are fine .. now this is what I believe is wrong. The item listed as "item 8" on the list could very well be faulty I flicked the wires going off the side of the mobo and boom it works again.. curious I unplugged the connector from the x3 and inspected the prongs on the plug .. straight and in perfect shape.. then inspected the cable itself the male end of the line looked fine and fit right back into the socket.. I started up the box and it again booted up as a regular xbox .. so I moved the wires around and rebooted and again the x3 appeared to function fine. A few things that could be going on.

1. Bad batch of cables?
2. Maybe a split in one of the wires?
3. Possible the connector male/female end is faulty?

Now to avoid finger pointing saying I obviously was too rough on the hardware .. I wasn't  I was extremely careful installing the chip and I am pretty sure it is a defect in "item 8" or the socket itself on the chip.

Now my question is .. where can I order just the wires and bits for the x3 without having to fork out for a new chip?

You must use the V1.6 Bios if you have a 1.6 version box... Re-flash your Bios with X3_1959_V1.6plus

Obviously this means that a connection is not quite making.. First the obvious...Check your soldering to the DO...I know...You've done it 10 times.. Then chech the solder points on the chip connector as these may have been damaged some how. If all is still ok then... VERY VERY GENTLY try and splay the male pins slightly...I ONLY MEAN SLIGHTLY....or even bend the ends AGAIN SLIGHTLY with some long nosed pliers. This should make the contact a bit better if the connector is slightly out. I really must stress that this is a delicate operation and if you cock it up then you may break the pins off altogether or damage their solder points on the chip..

Hope this helps....

Update on the problem. I chacked the lights and the 3.3V LED was out. I added the pin 9 to pin 15 wire and re-soldered the connection at pin 15. Flashed her back up and everything was fine. Thanks for the help boys. Back up to 100% sucess.

Absolutely correct. I haven't tried sims or brotherhood, but I have played and beaten fable 3 on the new dashboard, with an LT 1.0 flashed samsung.. I also did an xval check after the fact (Just to see if anything changed) and it says it's clean. :D

Re: samsung drives and the new ap2.5 checks I have a qestion

I have read in a few places that you can no longer spoof drives with this new ap2.5 thing. has something to do with the original firmware that ran on the drive in the beginning. spoofed drives will also stop reading ap2.5 disks only original smasungs work. but do some research as I am not 100% on this that was just what i got from the posts.
