Replacing Drive... How To Use Key On New Drive?

So I was wondering, I have the keys which I extracted from my drive that's always been in my 360, (original) and I've bought a new drive as the original drive broke.

How would I use my .bin files from the ORIGINAL drive, and put them onto the replacement drive so that the drive will work with my 360??

I have the original dummy, identify, enquiry and key files..

Appreciate the help!!

if both drives are lite-on then you can just swap the pcb, if not you need to get the ixtreme for your new drive then load your dummy as source then load the ixtreme for your new drive as the target then hit spoof and flash it to the new drive.

Re: Replacing Drive... How To Use Key On New Drive?

^^ makes sense. Thought I don't wanna actually flash the drive with any ixtreme firmware. I just want to get the replacement drive working in the same 360 by using both keys.

So I extract the key from the original, faulty drive, then extract the key from the new drive. Add the original key as the source then the replacement key as the target then spoof, and then write??

Re: Replacing Drive... How To Use Key On New Drive?

no
load your dummy as source!
load a stock fw (think they still supplied in ix fw package) as target
spoof source to target
check target now shows as stock with your dummys key
plug in new drive
erase and flash!
UNLESS you need the key from the new drive (ie if its from another console you plan to fix later)- no need to dump it!

Re: Replacing Drive... How To Use Key On New Drive?

So i load the extracted dummy as the source, enter the stock fw as target, spoof source to target and then just erase the new drive and flash!?

The guy whos drive im fixing doesnt want his 360 flashed in anyway as he wants to go on xbox live. Obviously flashing the new drive with the stock firmware isnt gonna get him banned, right?

It will just be the same as any other stock 360?

correct - just ensure it says STOCK on the fw ver in target buffer! (remember to spoof source to target)

Re: Replacing Drive... How To Use Key On New Drive?

braveheart, I just found out that the drive is knackered. It's a 74850c Liteon drive and wouldnt read any discs. It wouldnt even read DVD's lol when I put a disc into the drive, it sounded like it tried to read and then gave me the 'Open Tray' message. The drive hasnt got warrenty so I opened up the drive and cleaned all the lens multiple times and still nothing.
I'm gonna buy a new lite-on 7 series drive brand new from ebay for £25, and replace as I managed to extract the key.

Do you think a whole new drive will solve the problem? I'm fixing for a friend so I don't wanna make him spend the money for the drive if it doesnt fix it...

What do you think?
