X3 Powers on as soon as the Power/Eject Cable is plugged in

I have a v1.6 Xbox (manufactured July 2004)
Flashbios V3.0.0

Haven't soldered for 10 years, but all seems ok (don't have a multimeter)

Read all the post for the past 2 months +
Not to mention all the guides.

Problem 1:
Plugged in the X3 and cables etc
As soon as I plugged in the power cord, the xbox powered up immediately, straight to the M$ dash.

Can't use the power or eject buttons seperately to do anything, but can press them together and get to to the Flashbios (v3.0.0).
Xbox powers to the M$ dash, then have to hold the power and eject buttons for 4-5 seconds, then it boots to the Flashbios v3.0.0

It's definately something with the red Power/Eject cable as I can boot fine when it's not plugged in (I have to use the power / eject button to power up)

Not 100% convinced the X3 is installed ok, but since I get to the Flashbios ok, it must be good???

So I'm assuming that's (well part) of my problem as I can boot just fine (to the M$ dash) when I plug the yellow power cable straight to the motherboard or remove the red cable from the daughterboard.

Problem 2: ( I didn't put this in the flashbios forum as I thought it may be related to problem 1, happy to move it there if need be)
No idea if this is related to problem 1, but here goes:

I know it looks simple and I have read 3 different sets of instructions to try to get it to work, but if doesn't:

Don't have a hub/router/switch, so I tried to Flash via both a DVD-R & CD+RW
Each time I get the error "Unknown flash! Halting"

According to the Xecuter guide:

Well it's not, I've tried moving the switch to the left to have the flash protect off and to the right to have it on.
I've had the Bank switchs as :
1=on
2=on
3=off
4=off
5=off
I've unplugged the switch bank

Now I'm lost

I don't know if it's me not 'getting' this flashbios instructions or it's not working because of problem one with the power/eject daughterboard.


If you have any ideas, I'd appreciate them.

you forgot to remove a pin in the pin header

Nope - I removed the extra pin in the pin header before I did the LPC rebuild.

But will recheck to ensure I pulled the correct one.

If you unplug the power adapter and the switch (leaving only the 5v and the d0/lan/hd) then turn on your xbox, the x3 should be enabled. If it boots the MS dash, you've either got a bad installation or a bad chip. Most likely, its a bad installation, but I had a very similar problem. I tore the power adapter apart looking for shorts and I went back over all of my solder points. I eventually ordered a new chip, and everything is kosher now.

As far as your flashing problem, unless I did not read your post correctly, you never got it to boot into the cromwell bios except when you held in both the power and eject buttons. This puts in in a kind of "safe" backup mode, so if you're having problems with your installation where it won't see the memory banks, you still won't be able to flash. I would assume that this problem is directly related to your first problem.

Getting Gamertag and DLC to banned console

Hey all, question for yas. I have 2 360s. One modded and banned. Another clean and safe.

How can I get my gamertag/profile to be a decent file on banned console? I have been putting the hard drive from banned console on the safe console. Recovering the gamertag and then putting the hard drive back into banned console. But when booting up the banned console. The gamertag also comes with some issues. No Avatar for one. And says I need to be online to change it. Also, a lot of DLC I have will not work on the banned console. Half the time I swap the Hard drive over the gamertag goes corrupt even. Or some saves do to.
