I have had the pro switch for about a year and just installed it. I have just upgraded to the 3294 bios. Its on banks 1-4 and i've noticed 5-8 are not being used.

Can i run:

Bank 5 - 256K image of EvoX M8

Bank 6 - 256K image of FlashBIOS 3.03 ( i know i don't need this but.. )

Bank 7 - leave empty

Bank 8 - Leave empty

When i connect to my X3 via FTP i see the "ADMIN" directory and when i select the dir "256MB banks" and then select dir "bank 5" and upload EvoX M8.bin it doesn't look like the file was uploaded at all.

I'm sure its there somewhere because Flashfxp reports "transfered 1 file successfully". Even after you upload how do you flash it. When i boot into X3 by pressing the white button on the controller i see i have 2 options to flash and they are:

1. Flash Main Rom
2. Flash Backup rom

I have banks 1-4 flash and wanted to add 2 more bios images @ 256K each

I'ts been a year since i played a game on my xbox so i was very rusty. As they say "use it or loose it". I now see when you send the file it flashes and my set was in another room so i didn't see the messages on the screen and had been using component video cables and forgot you won't get the flashbios screen to load with component cables. Didn't see how to remove my post so i'm replying to my own

Never used FTP to flash a non X3 bios, so maybe it won't work (some-one will probably correct me here).

To flash via X3CL, ftp the bios files onto your c: drive. Then use the flash options you mentioned to flash your chip.

Why do you want to put Flashbios on bank 6 when you can just put it on your back-up?

FTP should still work, thats what its there for and allowing to flash on 256k/512k sized bios.
If it only allowed X3 Bios, I would think it will only allow to upload 1MB sized files. When you upload a bios file, it won't show as a file and should just upload and flash straight to the bank. Your XBOX should show that it is erasing and flashing.

[message you should get on xbox]
Erasing ... % -> Done
Flashing ... % -> Done
Verifying ... % then Done

Flashing successfully completed.
Time: 11 secs erasing. 15 secs flash. total: 26 secs.
Press X button to name bios.
Press B button to continue.
[/message]

But yeah, nothing to lose though if you try on a bank your not currently using.

And good point, flashbios is on backup bios already... (unless you have a 1.6b and haven't updated ur backup bios yet!) No harm in just having a spare flashbios around though...

Oh be sure to have flash protect off. Red light on first switch and off on the chip... If you upload, nothing will happen at all and you might miss the quick message that will pop up in X3CL for a couple of seconds that tells you to turn off flash protect... just something I tried and noticed.

Something else I noticed as well, if you try to upload a bios that is too small for a bios bank. Say 256K bios in a 1MB bank... nothing happens at all with no message.

Thankyou for the replys fella's guess you missed that i solved my own problem but guess its best to reply in case someone has the same issue
and hasn't messed with their box in a year like i had or is doing it for the
first time. I've come across posts before where the author discovered the
problem before a reply was made and wish that hadn't been the case.

But yes you guys are correct when you send file via FTP the flash is done
for you. My set was in another room and didn't even have the viewable so
as to not burn the X3CL screen into my HDTV. This X3 is just so impressive.
I've been messing with modchip since PSX and have never seen such a highly
advanced mod, it's worth $200 instead of $45

Thanks again
