X3 problems

My problem is on a V1.0 xbox that I had modded by someone else using the pin header install. They said it worked fine when they shipped it to me. I have no reason to NOT believe them. Can anyone suggest anything besides resoldering to me (that's why I sent it away to be installed :) ).

The X3 itself has a blue light by the external switch connector and a greenish light by the alt 5v without the external switch connected. There is no greenish light by the alt 5v when the external switch is connected and there are no lights on the ext switch itself.

With external switch connected:
Short tap of power - Boots to M$ dash

Hold power button for a while (X3 disabled) - Boots to M$ dash

Press power and eject (backup bios) - powers on then quickly off

With external switch disconnected:
Short tap of power - On Off On Off On FRAG

Hold power button for a while (X3 disabled) - Boots to M$ dash

Press power and eject (backup bios) - On Off On Off On FRAG.

It looks like a D0 problem initially but, why no light by the alt 5v with the switch coonnected.

Thanks

send it back and insist that the person who modded your xbox repair it and send it back to you working. Whats the sense in pay someone for a nonworking modded xbox, I know this does not help you but it makes me angry when you pay for something and it doesnt work.

Thanks for the reply. The installer said for me to send the chip back and he would test it. I think it may the pin 15 power problem though. I will test the continuity now. For those who find themselves in this situation and have happened upon my post, I will be using the tutorial below from xbox-scene to check my LPC points.

if theres no lights on the external switch then the chip isn't powering up properly. You say that the 5v led isn't comming on. This is actually good news cause it's one of the easiest fixes. Just resolder the alt 5v wire untill you get that led working. remember if you don't have the 2 voltage led's on the chip light up then the x3 wont work cause it can't power up correctly

I have a V1.0 box so, I'm not using the alt 5v. It's actually the 3.3v led by the alt 5v that isn't lighting. This is powered by pin 15 and 9 if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for the info.

All voltages are fine. The only other thing I can think of besides a dead X3 (I know, not likely) is that the screw that is next to the LPC is stripped. Could this be causing everything to not ground correctly?

Thanks

dam missed that part about the v1.0 one thing you might want to do to help you get the 3.3v is connect a wire to pins 9 and 15
