X3 ROX my BOX but no CONFIG LIVE

I have a 1.6 board (Xcalibur video and Samsug RAM). I`ve soldered the LPC rebuild pcb and the pin header and reaassembled all together.

I have the 5V and 3.3V leds came up and the red led for unprotected bios. So i`ve flashed with 195916plus allright but when i get to boot I get the X3 rox my box pic and then it goes into the msdasboard.

It can execute homebrew code fine but i can not bring up the X3 config (even if i prees the white button)

Is there a problem with pins 13, 14 or something else?

I`ve flashed bank 1-4. If i choose bank 5-8 i get a blank screen (banks 5-8 not flashed)

Are you pressing... or holding the white button? Try holding it in from before you even power the xbox on.... if that doesnt work... try to flash the bios on banks 5-8, by booting into the backup bios... turning the switch to it, then flashing.

I am pressing it (not just touching) but it does nothing.

BTW if i switch to banks 5-8 (Off Off On On) the xbox frags (since there is no bios there). If I switch to 1-4 it boots up the Xecuter BIOS and goes into the MS dash, allowing homebrew software to run but i can't get into the Config Live afterall.

What is the problem? I thought it should be the pins 13-14 but I am not getting a blank screen. I get the Xecuter rox my box and it defaults to msdash, leaving me no other option.

Anyone, that can help?

The second your Xbox starts to load from Banks 1234, hold the white button. Do not let go until you see the X3 Config Live screen.

Failing that, run the erase_x3.xbe file which comes with the BIOSes. It will clear the X3 EEPROM and on reboot you should see the X3 Config Live screen.

I already did that Martin about 10 times. Nothing happens. This is not the first X3 installation i do. I don't know what to imagine. No matter what i do, the xbox says rox my box and goes into the msdash.

I though that it was the pin13,pin14 but thats for not getting audio/video at all. I get the XBOX Xecuter bios fine. I just cant get in X3 Config Live.

I've never got into X3 Config Live in this machine. And since i haven't got the chance to change it to disable, it should autostart. But the problem is that i can't bring it on, no matter if i press the white button.

I also flashed banks 5-8 (off on off off) with 195916plus.bin and the flash was good. On reboot with banks 5-8 the bios loads and stays on the screen saying XBOX XECUTER ROX MY BOX. Nothing else.

Any clues????

UPDATE:

I removed the X3 chip and installed a new X3 (i have two spares). I flashed it and everything works!!! Is there a chance that the previous chip was faulty???

Is there a way to check it, or should i send it back to the reseller???

On the 1.6 it was the stock drive. As you can see I already have a 200GB on my other ver 1.0 xbox with x3ce installed, no problem...

I will try this Martin on a new XBOX. The 1.6 now works with the new X3 as i stated. The thing that blows my mind is why since i used the backup rom to flash the 1959 to either 1mb banks 1-4 or 5-8 does not bring the X3 config live. the 1-4 defaults to msdash while the other stays on the rox my box forever. And why the new chip worked fine with the first time. They were exactly the same.

BTW how does the default.xbe works since if i have 1-4 or 5-8 supposed bad flashed to be ablr to boot into cd and execute default.xbe???

Just make sure you flash the correct version of 1959 for your Xbox. Read the txt file to make 100% sure.

It was the same 195916plus.bin on both chips for the 1.6 The one worked the other did not. I will use the non working chip on a 1.2 XBOX but i will boot to backup bios and then select 1-4 (1mb) and flash it with 1959.bin I just hope it will ovewrite the previous non working 195916plus which is not needed anymore on the 1.2 But if it doesn't then i must use the x3_erase. My concern as i previously told you, is how will the XBOX boot the CD with ht x3_erase in order to reser X3 EEPROM if the banks 1-4 or 5-8 are already corrupt. I mean the X3_erase is ONLY if you forget the password in config live and not to revice an X3 bank. Am I right????

Yes, but nothing should stop you from booting the backup BIOS to reflash (and subsequently boot) banks 1234 with your new X3 BIOS.

It is in the rar file that the 1959 bios are zipped in. Need to go to other places to get them and unrar them. Hope this helps.

Martin,
Could you advise how the erase_x3 utility should be run. I have carelessly locked myself out of the x3, by applying a password and immediately forgetting it!

I have tried various ways to apply this via ftp, but i'm still locked out, so it has not cleared my EEPROM. Obviously I am doing something wrong - but working in the dark at the mo..

Would appreciate any advice you could give..

I too am getting the ROX MY BOX logo into the M$ dashboard but no x3 config live.

I have flashed Bank 1234: on on off off
I have a v1.0 xbox with X3 2913 bios.

Any suggestions guys?

And what is this white button you all refer to?
