X3 Switch not lighting up?

I've just went through the LPC Rebuild and powered up my box. I'm getting the blue leds on the X3 to light, but no lights are showing on the switch. Also it's booting to MSDash.

This is not a first time installation of this chip. It was originally in a v.1.0 Xbox, bbut had to be removed, because someone pulled the DO trace up while trying to repair it........

Any suggestions would be helpfull. Also if some could explain how to use a multimeter to check my solder points that would be great as well.

I'm sorry I'm such a newb, but hell we all have to start somewhere.

UPDATE: Okay, I took the motherboard out and looked everything over, and found I missed one pin, yeah I know what your thinking..........dumbass. Well I soldered it down and now the switch lights up.

Now I'm getting a frag. Originally I had the X3 installed in a v1.0 Xbox and worked fine for a month, then began to frag. So I removed the chip from the v1.0, because like I said before I pulled up the trace on the DO. I went out and bought a brand new Xbox, and install it again, yet now I'm still getting a frag. Could it be the chip? Or do you guys think I'm still just think my solder joints are not done well?

Okay I got the multimeter down, I understand what to do now. And after checking over everything, all connections are fine throughout the pin header, and both blue leds are lit on the chip showing that it is recieving the correct voltage.

If you want to know the voltage on each pin I could post that up as well, if it would help.

Also should there be some sort of voltage coming from the DO?

awwwwwwww not coooooooool lol.

thanks.

actually heres a good one since you seem more electronic proficient than I.

Since I used the DVD 12v for the feed to my fan (and it seems to work very good) and now have that left over brown cable coming out of the four pin connector, could i splice the left over brown into the red to feed double power to the left over fan?

Re: 12v source

yes... right now you only have one of the 2 fans at full tilt, but i wouldn't. i have heard horror stories from guys that draw power from the dvd. i have never used it so i can't say it would hurt but i find myths generally have some truth to them so i stay away from the dvd drive power.

Re: 12v source

i was hesitant a bit at first but i did a bit of research and found quite a few people who have had theirs running for quite a while. I thought it might end up over drawing and affecting the drive a bit but i always play my games off the hard drive anyway.

im actually looking into a way to add a fan or two on their own power source as to keep from drawing from the mobo at all.
