X3 Switch Panel Burnt Out?

Hey, my switch panel seems to be on the fritz. A few days ago the blue led that shows the x3 as active stopped lighting up, same with the hd access led. When I disable the chip the red led comes on like its supposed to, my X3 mod chip works fine, I rechecked my solder points and the switch connections and everything looks good.

Today I turn my box on and lo and behold! The blue x3 light comes on but its very weakly lit, I almost didn't notice it. The hd led is still non-functional though. I was wondering if the leds are just faulty or if they've burnt out and if I could fix it the problem myself. I don't want to purchase a new switch panel (not sure if thats even possible). Its just a minor annoyance, other than the switch issue my experience with the x3 has been excellent.

Check you haven't crushed the switch panel wires anywhere, especally where they go under the controller ports.

Sup everybody, newbie here, need assistance plz.

Alright, well I'm finally on board lol..

So I've flashed my ps2, psp, smartphone, etc so the game of flashing is nothing new to me, however with the 360 it's a bit more involved to say the least...

I just want to be able to copy my games and play backups safely and efficiently.. I've skimmed through some Tutorials here and on JungleFlasher but everything seems to be from like 2006-2007 which makes me kinda curious? Is the routine for doing this still the same..??

I got my Torx 10 screwdriver, mini flathead, croc clips, sata cable, and open sata port on my win7 desktops MB so now all I need to do is open my XBOX 360 and see what type of DVD Drive I'm using but after that I get a bit confused...

It seems that for each individually different drive, there is a different routine to modifying it..?? And like I said, I just want to be able to safely play my backups and that's it, would be cool to play online too but I hear that's a big no-no around here after doing a FW mod..

So any assistance would be great, maybe a link to a specific thread that lists the steps or something, I just searched and searched and got lost through all the miscellaneous threads, thanks..

Also, my drive should either be one of four correct, Lite-On, BenQ, Samsung, or Hitachi???

first find out what drive you have, flick the front off the console and look to see what wires you can see

Yeah from what I hear BenQ is the golden egg when it comes to all this but I was unsure as of why lol.. I figured it was more easily mod'able or something..??

Ok so you mean the drive seen by my motherboard, as my dvd drive correct..??

Also, does it matter that I am running Windows 7, I hear people have had issues...

I have the same setup as you... my mother board would not recongize the drive... if yours doesn't not see the drive you need to get a VIA VT6421A IDE & SATA RAID PCI Controller Card. I just ordered mine from ebay for only $10 and was free shipping

I don't beilve the OS has anything to do with it... its the chipset thats important. My machines chipset will not see the drive so i have to add the pci sata card, that sata card will detect the drive. If i was you i would try it on your machines to see if it sees the drive, it might, if it don't just order you a card there really cheap

Re: Sup everybody, newbie here, need assistance plz.

ok so got everything apart, and it's hooked up to my pc... i've watched dozens of DIY tutorials on flashing the BenQ and it seems with the newer versions all the xbox has to be is just plugged in via the sata cable... Do we still have to open the disc tray and hold it open and all that..??

Ok so got it all done the other day, all in all took about 2 hours, but now I definitely see how some of you say it's not that hard because it is pretty cut and dry...

Thanks for those who helped, I appreciate it...

So is it ok to play my original games online, even with a flashed dvd drive?
