I don't know if you can.zeph said:Okay, so if you have the user password and/or the master password (from ConfigMagic), what do you have to do to get the X3 to unlock it? Just plug in the hd, boot into X3CL, and manually replace the EEPROM? Or is there some sort of temporary buffer you can enter the master password in that the X3 will read from and use?
Well, if that would have worked, I wouldn't have had to post my question in the first place  .Martin C said:I don't know if you can.zeph said:Okay, so if you have the user password and/or the master password (from ConfigMagic), what do you have to do to get the X3 to unlock it? Connect the HDD to your PC and boot a DOS disk with ATAPWD on it. run ATAPWD and select the HDD. Select unlock HDD with Master password and type in TEAMASSEMBLY. Then select disable with Master password and type TEAMASSEMBLY. If all goes well you've unlocked it.
You can now reconnect to the Xbox and lock it with X3CL.

On the contrary, I with 110% certainty did use ConfigMagic. And again, if I could use the Xbox that I locked it in to unlock it, there'd be no need for my post.Martin C said:If that didn't work, then it wasn't ever locked with ConfigMagic.
You should be able to unlock it in the Xbox where it was originally locked.

I'm not trying to argue with anyone, I just asked my question in my first post in this thread. Martin responded with a good suggestion, but I already tried it and so that's the reason behind my second post. Then he made another suggestion, and hence, my third post.OP{MaF} said:Hey zeph... not sure what you are arguing here. Martin said to use ATAPWD.exe from a DOS boot disk (with the HDD attached to your PC) to unlock the drive with the master password TEAMASSEMBLY. If the drive was locked with ConfigMagic, then that IS the master password.
However, this solution has nothing to do with using an xbox to unlock it.
Try following his instuctions - you'll find they will work.
I don't think you can use the tools mentioned with the master password.OP{MaF} said:Just a thought, but if atapwd didn't unlock it, perhaps try hdunlock and hddisabl? Those happen to be the ones I used and they unlocked my drive just fine.
Only trying to help man, sorry if I came across harsh - maybe I misread your post, but it seemed like you were saying you were trying to unlock it with the xbox, not a pc.
