Yes you can upgrade your bios..

All the settings you make in CFL are saved in the eeprom and not in the flashram area.

Its the flashram that holds the program (bios) and the eeprom holds the variables (CFL Settings)

uh.... I messed it up. I was in the x3 bios screen, and I tried to update it there using 3294 to banks 5678.... I tried booting back to cromwell but it is not there anywhere, even on the backup bios... I must have done something during the flash... I looks like it loads, the blue x3 comes on but after awhile the yellow light turns orange and nothing shows on the TV

if its a 1.6b then you wont get backup bios unless u updated it after flashing 3108. It's default is Flashbios3.01.

what did you install in the first bank 1234 (on,on,off, off, off)

I dont think anything, because it wont boot either. I have tried multiple combinations of dip settings, and I cant get anything. I also dont have any video out. ... I also took the chip out, and tried to boot back to original xbox , but that wont boot either.... Did I fry my xbox or something? This is weird..

well flashing it didnt fry your box..it simply can't!

Check you have the AV cable pushed home properly..does the xbox frag with no chip installed?

tried the cable check, everything seems to be ok, even when I turn it on the mod seems that it would be booting up to the cromwell, but there is just no video output. I am pretty sure the motherboard video is fried, is there any fixes out there besides buying a new system?

I think I am in the same boat....
I just tried to update my bios from a rather old version (what was the latest 13 months ago?)

I don't think there is anything wrong with the video components. I don't think that is possible.

Any help?

I think I should add that if I hold the power button it boots perectly to the MS dash and if I switch on using power+eject then it loads up to Flashbios perfectly fine too.
