X3 V1.6 not working before AND after mod

I just got a new xbox 1 week ago. I took it apart to figure out what version it is (1.6) and put it back together. I didn't do any mods at this point. but ever since my xbox started up fine but there was no sound and no audio. the green light was on and everything seemt to run fine (except the audio/video problem). I figured that my MS dashboard is corrupt ( BIOS?) and that's why I don't see the DB at startup.
Well, today I got my X3 chip. After I installed it I still don't have audio/video output to my tv nor to my tv tuner card (chip disabled/enabled doesn't matter).
By starting up the xbox with the chip enabled I see the green light coming on, changes to orange (after 1sec) and then stays solid green.

Does anybody out there have the same problem? I'm searching in forums for the last 4 hours and still couldn't find any help. I'm getting tired and I'd like to see a XBOX logo on my screen!
I would really appreciate some help!

ps: silly question: does X3 work with stock HDD or do I have to upgrade it?

make sure your using the original av cables. or maybe yours was damaged or something.

yeah I'll try my buddy's av cable tommorow. It just seems strange to me that my xbox doesn't work anymore after I took it apart.
By the way. I just figured that the blue HDD LED on my X3 external switch is only active when the chip is disabled.....is that normal or could there be the problem why my xbox doesn't even start up from the chip?
