First wasn't sure if I should post here or in the 1.6b forum (so I am copying this in the other forum as well)

I have looked and looked and did all the reading on this site. I have resoldered all my contacts several times to ensure the resoldering answer was fulfilled. I have multimetered for connectivity and all checks (on each solder each time I performed the resolder)

I have tried every option for the banks (switches) to see if the bios 3.0.3 was in another bank. I have hit the power button several times on each bank configuration to ensure the blank screen happens on each configuration.

I have pictures for all my xbox and soldering.

The actual happening.

The quick hit turn on - the blue leds (both) on the chip light up. The blue light on the front panel lights, I have a green light on the eject button and in about 10 secs turns amber. blank screen throught.

AMBER LIGHT

The Dual hit turn on - purple light appears on front panel, both blue led on chip are lit. I have a green light on the eject button and in about 10 secs turns amber. blank screen throught.

1 Sec+ turn on - Red light on front panel, both LEDs are lit on chip. MS Bios starts up on the screen.

The mobo pictures.

I am not new to modding xboxes, I have been doing them since the matrix/xodus chips - xbit 1.5 with all success. I decided to use the X3 with the 1.6b mobo so this is my first attempt with this mobo and this chip and man what a ride this has been. I hate posting on the boards cuz I feel like I should be able to do this without the need but I am at my end and don't know what else to do.

The stats:
been modding since the 1.0 came out.
xbox is v1.6b
using standard video cables
using original controller (large ones)
X3 - was purchased at end of december so I am assuming 3.0.3 is on but I can't tell nor see a screen to verify this.

Please any an all assistance will be greatly appreciated

That’s one of the worst soldering jobs I have ever seen. Also, it looks as if pin #5 isn’t there; maybe it’s your camera.

its only bad due to the solder resolder i kept doing, it was cleaner in the begining but after doing the reading and everyone stated resolder I thought I try that before posting.

all i am doing is asking for some assistance, I would appreciate that over the slamming. I thought that these forums were in place to help others in need not to state superiority.

Ok, I will tell you what the problem is just by looking at the last photo you posted. I see solder splash everywhere and burnt traces.

yes I used copper braid. even with that, I have checked connectivity and everything checks. I looked closer and there aren't any burnt traces. could it just be that the bios on the chip is actually 3.0.1 and not 3.0.3?

Looks like you cleaned it up and posted a better picture. It looks much better now, let’s try what I posted for others to see if it’s a FlashBIOS problem, as you know you need 3.0.3 for the 1.6b unit.

http://www.teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23255&highlight=flashbios+3.03
Check your switch settings before you boot. Most of the resellers are including FlashBIOS 3.0.1 on banks 1, 2, 3, and 4 and FlashBIOS 3.03 on banks 5, 6, 7, and 8. Try booting to each 256k banks 5-8 or the 1MB combo of 5-8 set on the switch.

After you get a boot, make sure to set your switch to the 1st 1MB combo of banks 1-4 (switch settings on, on, off, off). You’ll find the switch settings guide in the FAQ forum.
Let’s hope that 3.0.3 is somewhere on your chip, also be sure to use the standard AV cables that came with the unit.

Think this chip is flashed with 3.0.1. I was able to get that screen up twice the on banks 12345678 (all off) and on bank 5678 (only two on). However it failed when trying to load the bios each time and it takes several pushes on the power button to get that flash bios working. So I can either send this back to the reseller or find another X3 1.0-1.6 box in my area. I don't really want to try the softmod method for this chip.
