X3 + v1.6b + programmer to fix blank screen issue?

Ok so I have that funny little blank screen issue with my X3 and v1.6b board. I have tried all the combinations for the mem banks and low and behold...i don't have 3.03. THe combos i used was

That should be all of them, so that is a definetly no 3.03.

My question is could I get the X-ecuter v3 Lite Programmer and do all that flashing with the 3.03 1959 bios fix? I don't want to spend an extra $15.99 if that just won't work. I don't know anyone iwth a modded xbox and i don't know if i trust myself with the HDD swapping method. Thanks.

The X3 won't fit onto the programmer, as it plugs in the other way.

I'm currently working on a mod for the 2.3b Programmer so it can be done.

Just send the chip to your supplier and they'll flash it with FlashBIOS 3.0.3 for you.

I'm having the same problem. Well I can get the 3.0.1 flashbios to come up. but cant flash. the staus bar runs along the bottom. the xbox shutsdown but then when i boot up it just goes blank. can i flash to the backup? and if so what good does that do me?

If you're getting a blank screen after flashing X3 1959 plus16 then read the stickys.

yes I have tried that bios version. So what your saying is that I have try to contact my chip supplier and ship it back to him to have him reflash my bios? I suppose I have to cover the cost of shipping.

There's a sticky on the whole 'blank screen after X3 1959 flash' issue. I suggest you read it if it's fits your problem.

If you're getting a blank FlashBIOS screen, then that's something else.

Thanks fro the quick responses. Seeing that I neither have another xbox nor chip. My only alternate is the forbodding softmod option. Lucky me?

You're welcome to try - the softmod option has been tried and tested so hopefully it should be a pretty painless procedure.

I can load up my flash bios 3.0.1 but it won’t flash a new bios. The yellow status bar appears at the bottom the green one. The Xbox shuts down but now new bios appears on reboot. Can I just reflash to 3.0.3? Am I forced to do the softmod thing? Is there a magic button I don't know about? Nothing that is worth while is easy.

I'm confused - what happens when you boot to FlashBIOS, set the switches to on on off off off and flash a 1MB X3 1959plus16 BIOS?

When you reboot with the same switch settings, what happens?

Okay thanks Martin. I don't think it was my soldering job that was the problem. I have been able to flash the evo M8plus_16.bin bios to bank one with success. I now have to figure how to flash the x3 bios to banks 1234 or 5678. Any suggestions? Once again thank you for your support.

The M8 BIOS will work where the X3 will not if the pins stated in that post are not soldered correctly.

The fact it's working thus far means that the standard pins are soldered fine.

If you get pins 13 and 14 resoldered then X3 1959 plus16 will work fine.

FlashBIOS works ? Yes
Evox M8+16 works ? Yes
X3 1959 plus16 BIOS works ? No - blank screen.

Answer - soldering on pins 13 and 14.

Get a multimeter and check continuity to these pins from a trace on the board leading to it. There's not much else it can be.

okay one last thing the only bios that works is the back up flashbios. it only works when i press both eject and power at the same time.
