okay one last thing the only bios that works is the back up flashbios. it only works when i press both eject and power at the same time.
That's not what you said before -you said you can get the Evox M8plus 16 BIOS to work.

What's changed? Have you forgotten which bank you flashed it to?

this is what happens. I'll choose the right bank i want to flash to in the evo case it will be on,on,on,on,off. if i just power up it wont power up right go to blank screen. if hold the power down for a second or two it goes to the ms dash. if i hit the eject and power at the same time it goes to flashbios 3.0.1. and allows me to flash the evo bios. No if i go to on,on,off, off, off and try to turn it on nothing. it will allow me to go to ms dash. if i hit both buttons again it goes to the flashbios 3.0.1 it allows me to flash the 1959 bios. but when i boot up blank screen. and when i revert back to the evo dash it is now gone and i have to reflash.
I hope that was clear, i was starting to get confused.

You do understand what the switches are for - yes?

If you flash a 256 / 512 / 1024k BIOS, then you must set the switches accordingly.

for instance, you flashed the Evox M8plus16 BIOS - what size did you flash and what were the switch settings you used?

So you overwrote the 256k Bank 1 BIOS?

You need to understand more about where this banks are.

1MB Bank 1234 (on on off off) will overwrite banks 1 2 3 4 256k.

So if you flash bank 1 256k and then flash 1MB Bank 1 2 3 4, you'll lose the original bank.

Do this for now - flash your Evox M8 plus 16 BIOS to bank 5 256k (on on off on) and it will leave your Bank 1MB 1234 for troubleshooting the X3 while you'll still be able to boot from bank 5 256k with a working BIOS.

All this information is in the sticky BTW :

i wish there was an x3 programmer. i just always flash with the x2 programmer. I think many others also feel this way. People dont have to buy it, but it should be available, i think, t would be really cool.

In exactly the same way. Boot to a FlashBIOS bank (you can use the backup BIOS, or you should have one still on bank 8 256k for example).

After FlashBIOS is on screen, set switches to on on off off and flash your 1MB X3 1959plus16 BIOS.

Afterwards, your Evox M8plus 16 BIOS should still be on bank 5 256k and your X3 1959 BIOS should be on your Banks 1234 1MB.

Thank you Thank you. I had no isea i could change banks AFTER the bios had loaded up. okay now i have the x3 bios loaded into my bank 1234 1MB. Once again Martin thank you for your patience with my ignorance. Is this the solution to the 1.6b xbox and the x3 chip not flashed with 3.0.3, instead of the 'softmod'?

Okay,
My problem sounded like a lot of other peoples. I have a 1.6bv Xbox. I have an x3 chip with 3.0.1 bios. Everytime i tried to flash the 1959 plus bios when my Xbox rebooted no video or sound. I had read in the forums there were only two solutions send the chip to the supplier for reflashing or this softmod method, where you have swap the drive in your pc. Then with your suggestions and guidance I came through a survivor. Does this clear it up a bit?

p.s. do you know anything about Saturn’s particularly 2001 SL it’s stalling a lot.

In your case, you had a working FlashBIOS 3.0.3 on your chip which you were able to boot from. In other people's cases where 3.0.3 isn't on the chip, they'd have to find an alternative solution.

That's not entirely true. I didn’t have a working flash 3.0.3. it was only after I flash it a few times with the downloaded version of flash bios 3.0.3 before I flashed that particular bank it read 3.0.1. I received my chip in the beginning of November. Were they already flashed 3.0.3 back then?

Do you remember what version of FlashBIOS appeared on your screen before you had flashed 3.0.3?

It's an interesting point that maybe your 1.6b was ok with an earlier version.
