X3 W X3 3029 on 1.6 - Flashbios Question

I've done a handful of x2.6 installs in V1.0-1.6b machines with great success. Today we're doing a X3 install in a 1.6 and i had a quick question, please excuse my iggnorance if i missed the answer somewhere in the forum.

When doing a bios update with the 2.6's i always created my bios files by putting Flashbios 3.0.3 + the bios into one single file by using X2BM then flashing to the chip, this ensured i could always reflash and have an up to date version of Flashbios. I am wondering if this is still necessary with the X3 chip and the X3 Bios?

A great many thanks in advance!

The X3 comes in a pretty fail safe config to start to be honest. By default the X3 comes with flashbios 3.0.1 in the backup bios and bank 1, bank 2 has flashbios 3.0.3 for 1.6b xbox's. If you flash bank 1 with the X3 3029 bios then you should still have the backup bios (which you can enter by pressing power and eject together to power on) with flashbios 3.0.1 to reflash at a later date if needed. Just make sure you use the v16 plus bin file when flashing.

Just a quick Q, i bootup the backup and its actually Flashbios 3.0.0, not 3.0.1. I'm trying to flash via http and my browser just hangs, i am seeing LAN activity on the chip and i can ping the box so i know there is a connection. Any known issues?

Glad your sorted, I wasn't sure if they updated the backup bios on the CE chips but 3.0.0 does work with 1.6's as you obviously found out.
