the mod works but the swtich is red and the power/eject switch makes no diference in start up!

any ideas?

Naffed Drive

I have an error with my Samsung Ms25, is it possible just to buy a new drive and flash it with the lastest firmware?

yes, you can

as long as you extract the keys from the old samsung first

or you could just take the pcb from the old samsung, then put it into the new drive and flash that pcb then

in other words, you still need the information from the old drive

no, probably not

if you can JTAG your xbox, then you can get the key from the motherboard

How do you know it has been fried? Did you plug the power cable in upside-down? Are you sure you are connecting the drive properly to your computer?

What kind of error(s) are you getting with your drive?

i Belive i may have put the power cable in upside down, the xbox works to the dashboard with the dvd not conected, when the drive is connected i get the E64 error

Does the drive eject? Did you try to flash it? It could be due to a bad flash. It could also be a faulty DVD drive power or SATA cable. But, most likely you fried it. Your only option would be to JTAG the console and retrieve your DVD key (if your console is JTAGable - you should bring it to someone who does JTAGs and tell them your situation).
