X3 with xapter on 1.4

right went through the install ok! flashed the bios ok! now when i switch the box on the chip doesn't seem to work i get the blue led on the control and on the chip but the 2 led either side of the eject button flash green and red but nothing on the screen.
if i switch the box on without the chip switched on i just get the your system needs service blah blah blah.
can anyone shed soom light on the subject and help a noob out.

Are you using the Xapter or the Xapt3r ?

The reason is the X3 doesn't work on the Xapter.

What error number is on the service screen when you boot with the chip disabled?
