X3 working on 1.4 but not 1.6

Im trying to install a X3 in 1.6, but cant get any video out while booting.
Ive tried 7 times to resolder everything, always end up with the same result.

When chip is installed, it works great to boot into M$. But nothing else works. I get a flash red light at X3 panel, then it turns blue and stay blue for 30-40 seconds. Then it end up random in orange or red.

When I installed it in a 1.4 it worked like a dream. By default it had Flashbios 3.0.0 installed. Then I made a 1Mb Flashbios 3.0.3 image and used HTTP flash. I guess the image ended up in bank 1234 then? on on off off.... After booting it said 3.0.3.

Installed the chip in 1.6 again. And nothing changed, M$ worked but no boot/image at Flashbios.

If its possible to select boot mode, I guess D0 is ok?
The two blue leds have light, power connection ok then?


What should I check now? I think the soldering looks ok...
Since Ive dont resoldering.. removed everything and cleaned up, then put all together and always end up with the same result. It almost feel like there is something I missing or doing wrong.

I followed the 1.6 tutorial from Team Xecuter. (Pin Header)

Please help me out, spent to many hours on this chip!

Have same prob, it looks like a 1.6b bios incompatability issue. Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

If you had it installed in the 1.4 and want to do it again, just install the regular 1mb bios on on bank and the 1.6 bios version on another bank. I don't know if you used the same bios on both versions but it should not work.

If you have it working on the 1.4 and install the correct version of the bios, then flash the newest cromwell verrsion 3.03 to the backup bank (since this works with all versions). Just go into the live config and find the flash to backup area. Make sure you don't tamper with the size and rename it to bios.bin

Solved it!

Flashbios 3.0.0 and 3.0.3 dont work at my 1.6 crystal box.

So it looks like a new problem out there aswell with the late 1.6 boxes aswell.

:twisted: Solution was to flash the bios at the 1.4 box, flashed it with X3 1959. :twisted:

Then put it back in the 1.6 box, then the X3 1959 booted as a dream!

Going to try flash the chip later with Flashbios 3.0.2 or 3.0.1, find one that works that I can store in the backup flash.
