X3/XBL Questions

I have been reading for days now and still can't seem to figure out what my "sure thing" options are other than buying a second xbox(and I would rather not). Here is the situation:

I have a new xbox(holiday pack) and have been playing on XBL religiously. I just purchased the X3 mod chip and I have a 120g drive that I was going to put in my box. My question is what are my options and which are the best options for modding with the X3, upgrading the HD, and NOT getting banned from XBL.

Possible options that I would appreciate feedback on:

1. I read on several forums that if you move your xbl account info from the HD to a memory card, it will stop you from being banned(this doesn't feel safe but I don't know)
2. Flash EEPROM with new info, change drive, account recovery for XBL(also sounds shady to me)
3. Purchase the Xtender, add a drive, select whether I want to boot from my original drive with X3 off when I want to go on XBL, or from my upgraded drive with chip on to play backups(beofre I go this route, I would need to know for sure that this would work without fail, has anyone done this?)

Bottom line, existing XBL account, new chip, new HD, what are my tested/reliable options that will work without fail? I am more than open to other reliable solutions as well, these were the three that I have read the most about. Thanks for everyones help with this.

Your problem is that your Xbox is now married to your hard drive - this means unless you fit a new eeprom you cant change the drive or you will be banned.

You could fit another hardive, and have it switched so that for xbox live you use the original hard drive and use the 120 for when the chip is on. The xtender does this, but there are free options too.

So in short - unless you change the eeprom - you will only ever be able to connect to xbl with the hard dive you used to sign up on.

What I did was I sanded down the plastic and bent the metal sheilding in the back of the xbox so that I can shoot the wires through the bask of my xbox while the case is closed HERE and HERE are some pics.

how do you select which drive you want to use or do you just switch between your original drive and your upgrade drive?

You power the xbox off, and flip a DPDT switch to the direction of your other hard drive. I am currently waiting for a 3 device IDE cable, once i see how it goes, i will let you know.

As you can see it’s possible to use more than one hard drive. Some solutions look better than others.

My solution will be to fit two hard drives and the DVD in the case - not on top of it.

It’s still in development, and will take some skill to get it all to fit. I will post some pictures on my website when I get it working, or at least IF I can get it working.
