So i was going to buy this kit

http://cheaplpc.com/xir/xireasyinstall.asp?xbox=1.2-1.5

To use with an x3, then it hit me.

This requires to be plugged directly into the yellow connector, yet the X3 Reset/eject is there.Would i plug the yellow wire int oreset/eject and the reset/eject adaptor into the XIR mod.

Im guessing i would also have to have it enable D0 aswell, i need it to boot x3 normal bios on and off. Thats all

Have you looked at other ir mods, I got one from divineo but havn't installed it yet, the instructions were sh*te and I havn't found the time to do it. It requires soldering a few wires though !!

i just installed my XIR in my xbox with X3 this weekend. it works flawlessly.

you just plug the XIR directly into the mobo, then the X3 board into the XIR mod then the power/eject switch into the X3 board.

What brand and where did you get it?

Ok, stupid me. I thought you might have used a different one than they were talking about. Does the IR receiver fit in the Pro Switch IR window? (Assuming you have a Pro Switch) Thanks!

Alright that definatly cleared things up to me.. So its yellow wire into xir and the x3 stuff into the xir?

What about the d0 and it booting? Or dont i have to worry about that? Did you set it to turn d0 on/off or just install it manually

I just got the XIR 2.0 (still in beta) and it is nice. Fully programmable what button you want to do what. And you can set the times for booting mod on and off (perfect for X3)

Mine:
Mod on 250 ms
Mod off 2000 ms

i have a proswitch and i installed it flat against the back of the unit with the IR Dome facing the window in the proswitch. it works perfectly. didnt have to mod the Proswitch or the IR sensor. i can take a picture if you like.

When is this supposed to hit the market?

I have considered buying one, but I am in no hurry. That might be worth waiting for.

That'd be great if it isn't too much trouble. I think I'm going to have to get one!

The features states "Possibility to Enable/Disable LPC Modchip (Requires soldering)" does this turn the x3 on or off.

that feature is really useless in the case of the X3 because you can turn the mod off just by pushing the power button longer. if you want the ability to turn your xbox on with the mod either enabled or disabled, then wait for v2.0 to come out. i never use my xbox with the mod off, so i didnt care about that feature in the slightest. i'll take some pics of the way i installed it when i get home from work this evening.

There's a couple things I've been trying to figure with the space they provide on the pro switch for the ir sensor. Firstly, I've read occasional mention of xecutor possibly releasing an ir mod of their own, if this is true, will it function exactly like these existing mods or will it open up more options? The other was if possibly someone either did already or had planned to make an ir sensor that not only allows on / off control but replaces the ms reciever totally, or do design limitations of the xbox hardware prevent this from ever happening?

I ask because while the added functionality to turn the box on & off remotely is nice, I don't consider it worth the effort if I still have to live with the bulky ms reciever.
