LITEON 83850 v1 x360 usb essential??

hi guys, ive got a virgin liteon with the 0251 f/w, ive got a ck3 pro with probe 2 and plan on getting a probe 3 once they are back in stock.

Is the x360 usb an essential item when trying to recover the key from this drive now its has the 0251 F/W in it??

Reading the guide it says it is needed but other places on the net say i should only need the probe 3.

im trying to flash a phat drive as you could guess by the prefix. ive flashed a few xboxs now but its the first 0251 ive had to do and dont really want to hold on to my friends xbox any longer than i need to.

treat it the same as other phat liteons - x360usb pro is not essential, but highly recommended - a probe 3 is essential tho...so you will need that first.....you will obviously need to make sure the SATA is comatible - but as u have flasheed drives I would guess ur ok

thanks for the super quick reply, thats really what i wanted to hear and yes my sata is compatible for flashing.

You say the x360 usb is highly recomended, for what reason?? i dont have the £48 for the 1 that i seen in stock, and TBH i have not done alot of reading up on it so im not sure what it does.

and does anyone know when xecuter will be sending out more stock of the probe 3??

unsure about stocks...
SATA chipsets are iffy when it comes to 360 drives - the x360usb removes the unknowns, and makes flashing a real doddle - expands your abilities to flash slim drives, and also allows SUPER FAST 0800 rips to create backups....a very handy piece of kit indeed

completely glossed over the fact the OP had a probe2 - thanks for pointing that out lol......I'm mis-reading quite a lot today pmsl

just an option since the probe 3's are out of stock, its all i did , so simple, i have a big dodgy switch though..lol

thanks again for the quick explanations.

I did see the conversion cable from the sites i looked at (where to buy link on here) there where no pictures on any of the sites so im assuming it would be a simple case of removing the cable from the probe 2 and attaching the new cable?? lol please dont mention the soldering word as there is more chance of me soldering my fingers together. (never used a soldering gun/iron)

ordered my conversion cable today, hopefully it wont be too long before it gets here :) I will let you guys know how i get on as i will be using the guides on here to extract the key then using the JF guide to finish flashing, i know how its done but always sit with a guide in front of me just in case. Just need to wait on my verbatim arriving and my iHAS.

Ok everything has arrived today and i was about to set up the pc for flashing but then looked at the guide i had set out from here and didnt see what point on the probe v2 i should be using to probe the mpx01, is the the normal or the serial??? Im also just assuming that the switch should still be on prober rather than MRA. My thoughts are i should just be using the normal probe. Also might be a noob question but should the switch on the probe be up or down??

Dunno if the info im asking for is any of the guides but if not might be usefull to add.

I have not actually used a converted probe 2 - so kinda unsure myself lolol
I'm pretty sure Talby has tho - so maybe he might pop in and say hi with some pearls for ya

rebuilt my pc so i could have a proper look about the forums as my phone screen is just too small for searching. basically found the information i needed, please correct me if im wrong...

switch on the probe 2 should be up
probe with the red probe (normal)
follows guides religously :)
