I am running JungleFlasher 0.1.96(323)
Using X360USBPro v2.
Lite-on DG-16D4S Winbond Drive

The issue is spi unlocking the drive.

Went thru obtaining the key chip with no problem and initially unlocked spi with kamikaze method.
Got the spi status 0x00 but when I attempted to read the status changed.
Tried resetting JF and spi back to 0x8C. Tried unlock and got the H/W protected message.
From there it waits for the status change.

Do I have to drill more now? What did I do incorrectly that it no longer reads unlocked?

This is the third instance the drive was connected. I got spi status 0x00 but when I attempted to read the drive the status went back to 0x51 and wouldn't recognizethe drill method again.

20140103_005317.jpg Here is the chip. Not sure if I went far enough or if the angle is off. Still plays normally. Just questioning whether or not to drill further.

Got this message:

I would stop and count the pins. I edited the picture you posted through paint it looks like you have drilled in the wrong spot. I would double check and count the pins again to make sure.

Pretty sure I know the issue. Getting different tone and registering at different spi status register.
Have gotten

spi register 0x00
spi register 0x05

Never got spi register 0x03.

Little help on how to correct this please???

You could still drill "very" carefully on the correct spot. If it doesn't work or whatever, you can fall back to a unlocked pcb. Or stop at all and use the drive as it is now without errors as a original drive.

Be extra carefull attempting the right spot, because the excisting hole will try to drag you into that one again. So especially now go slow as you can. Straight from the jf PDF, slowly does it.

I use this tutorial to accurately mark the correct location on each chip.

I killed two PCBs by guessing where to drill, but I have done 5 Kamikaze hacks using the above method with 100% success so far.

All you need to do is take a photo of the chip, mark it out using MS Paint and find the location on the chip.
