If you want your HD/DVD and LAN activity lights to work, then you need to solder those wires; not hard at ALL; they are huge pins to solder to. And you somehow have to attach that wimpy wire to the D0 point (I may be wrong on that).

or you could have paid someone the same amount of cash to solder it for you - so you wouldnt have been left in the dark ;)
You are obviously on the tech side and not in sales ... you keep turning people AWAY from the XAPT3R module :)

Soldering is better, but for a 15yo that is trying to do this without incurring the wrath of mom (or dad) when they royally screw the pooch on the solder job, the solderless option really is a no-brainer.

Soldering isn't hard. It's a skill you can use in the future. The secret is practice on something you CAN destroy - like a $5 radio shack project kit (and hey, you can have a FM radio bug out of it - maybe build an IR module you can use later :) ).

im 17 years old but soldering is not my kind of thing.. i could have it chipped by my friends friend he runs a modchip site for $120 including chip and bios, but if i get the solderless i can get it for less than $80 if im right.. Im on a budget so i can get the Maxtor 200 GB also for $110, like urs token user... I want that HD :D

Seriously - the soldering instructions are pretty easy. The cost of the solderles adapter is a little more than a soldering iron. You might be better off learning to solder if budget is an issue. $120 for a chip and install? Wow - thats works out at something like $240/hour. Its not that hard. Locating a bios and flashing also not that hard. Get through the job, not screw it up, and then YOU can charge $60 to install a mod chip :) - its really pretty easy money.

the only problem with a 1.0 is you will have to remove the solder in the holes already if you plan on doing a Pinheadder install. Removing this solder is a little more involved, and will be easier to pull a trace if you do not know what you are doing.

If you want to do the Wire install on your 1.0 then that would be easy, you just have to tin (put solder on the ends of the wires) and solder in the right spot:
