X3ce 1.6 probs

I got a little problem thats doin my head in. Help needed badly.

v1.6 xbox crystal, Xcalibur, samsung.
X3ce, soldered pinheader install with lpc rebuild + alt 5v.

Heres the deal....
X3 installed, 2xblue led ON and Red / Green led ON.
External switch, Blue when enabled, Red when disabled, Purple when backup selected.

Hold power to disable mod and ms bios + dash loads, will play gemes etc.
Power + Eject will boot to backup flashbios 3.01.

so far so good, here comes the problem...

Boot to X3 backup bios and flash banks 1,2,3,4, or 5,6,7,8 with 1mb X3 3294 16plus bios. Power on, boots to ms dash. No config live available even when holding white.

Flash all banks with Flashbios 3.01 or 3.03 256k no probs, boots to selected bank OK.

Flash banks 1+2, 3+4, 5+6, 7+8 with Flashbios 512k no probs, boots to selected bank OK.

This is the 5th xbox Ive modded with an X3, but the first v1.6. Am I missing something? Can anyone help? Thanks.

All flashes done over http.
Flashed bank 5 with M8 256k boots ok.
Flashed 5,6,7,8 with X3 3293 does not work.
So why is X3 bios not workin????

looks like the x3 bios wont load without the HDD plugged in..

sorted.
