I have an x3ce chip with a 1.6 xbox using the xapter solderless install and am having a few problems.

I have preformed the install via the only good directions I could find which are here.

http://www.kanection.co.uk/page.php?xPage=xapter-16-install.html

except that I am using the LCD/faceplate for my xbox. when following the above directions I get flashbios and have tried to install the newest x3 bios. I have installed this bios in both 1meg slots on my chip, both bioses were downloaded from different locations. With both bioses my xbox freezes at the "rox my box" screen. I also cannot get to the "emergency bios" or the MS dash when using my box in this manner by pressing any combinations of the power buttons. This problem led a friend and I (this is our 3rd collective xbox, first with a solderless mod) to believe that we possibly needed to use the power button board(the small board that connects in series between the power button wiring harness on the front of the box) when installing, which was not included in the directions I had read. When I tried that and restarted the box I got the red light on the switch and an MS dash as though the chip was incorrectly installed. I have rechecked my install many times according to the instructions and it seems to be right, it does suprize me that they don't have you hook up the 3 wire harness which includes the hd light, lan light, and DO to anything in these instructions, but I'm not familiar with the way the xapter works. If someone could please help I'd greatly appricate it.

here's where I stand after a few tests suggested on another forum:

suggestion: Product manufacturer is probably your best bet.Xapter Troubleshooting Also...check out the forums over at TeamXecuter.com. their search function works, which is always helpful

reply: I did check the article you refrenced, it gave me a couple things to check, but unfortunately it's not for the x3 xapter. I also posted on team executer's forums, but I figured the more places I check the more likely I am to run into someone who can help. Thanks for the input, and keep it coming!

suggestion: Which lights are lit up on your chip and what color?? also, which version of flashbios did you use?? if you dont know 123&4 come with 3.01 and 5678 come with 3.03. Also can you get to the backup now that you wired in the power/eject board??

reply: with the power/eject board the chip has 2 blue led's lit up, and the 1 green/red led which switches when I switch the protect switch on the front of the xbox, there are also 5 led's on the xapt3r, which light up (from front to back of the xbox) blue, green, yellow, organge, red. the X light on the switch is red, the power light is flashing red and green, and the MS dash comes up.

When I uninstall the power/eject board I get all the led's the same color except the front one (xlight on the switch) which comes up blue. I also get a flashing green/orange power light, and the lcd comes on. it freezes at a purple xbox/xecuter rox my box screen.

I flashed both 1meg banks, switch settings on, on, off, off, as well as off, on, off, off. I get the same results no matter which bios bank I use, the power/eject board makes the only difference at this point.

suggestion: the short powerepress to boot with the chip enabled is VERY VERY short for me, only a very fast tap. that might be your problem, other than that check your D0. are there any connections on the Xapter other than the D0? Because if not im not sure how it would get the HDD/LAN activity light. you might want to try the 3 wire harness installed as well, but id disconnect the D0 on the adapter first to be safe.

reply: I tried a very quick tap with the power/eject board installed and did get to the "rox my box" screen but still froze there. The x light on the switch was also blue.

suggestion:
hmm. which version ot the X3 bios did you use?? 3294 or 3294 v1.6plus?

reply: I know I used plus on the first flash, and I believe I used the regular one on the second. on a side note I can get the emergency flashbios 3.0.1 up now with the swich board installed.

suggestion: Well since you can get Flashbios 3.01 up id go to the usual place and get a fresh copy of X3 3294. Flash X3 3294 v1.6plus.bin onto the chip via http://, and cross my fingers. If that doesnt work try other flashing methods or even an EvoX M8 bios if you have to... but as long as you can get Flashbios you got something to work with. Im going to bed now, but id like to wake up to some good news so report back. if youre still having trouble ill see if i cant help you. it sounds like its freezing trying to load X3configlive, but the BIOS is loading if you see the rox my box

reply: I previously had an m8 bios working well on my xbox but because It wasn't compatable with the LCD I flashed over it. I attempted a reflash with m8 in the second bank (off, on, off, off) and now I get the purple xbox screen but no rox my box logo, and an error 13 (unable to load dashboard) I have 3 prepared hard drives which have all been tested and work fine which all get the error 13, and still get the previously posted results with the first bank (on, on, off, off) I need to sleep myself so here's hoping someone can help, I'm totally confused at this point. BTW, as far as the DO is concerned I'm not sure which pin on the xapt3r is the do(if one is) so I'd be down to disconnect it and solder the DO as origionally, but I don't know enough about the xapt3r(nor does anyone else out there that's posted) to do it like that unless I did a total solder install.

Any help would be appricated... thks!!
