Hi all,

I finally got around to modding my Xbox. I'm having a problem that I've seen mentioned here and on a few other forums. The X3 mod chip works great. I was able to flash it to the latest BIOS and get it on my network. The problem I'm having is booting with the chip disabled. When I hold the power button down for the 3 seconds, the Xbox will cycle on and off then frag. When I boot with the chip enabled, I go to the option to reboot with the chip disabled, it reboots, flashes red for a second, then boots with the chip enabled.

I've read and tried all the suggestions I could find. Voltages are good, solder joints are good (soldering was my profession in the service) no solder splashes - I even went to the point of getting a magnifying glass and looked the complete board over - nada

Is it possible that the original bios got thrashed?? Is the on board bios on a flash and can it be re-flashed? Where would I get the factiory BIOS?

Any help would be appreciated as I play my son on Xbox live and would like to continue.

Thanks in advance!

Did you upgrade your HD? if so it must be locked and the original dash on the HD

also if you go onto xbox live make sure you create a new account.

Ok, heres a new twist on my porblem...Yesterday I spent all day trying to get it to boot into the MS bios, checking connections etc....I gave up and the Xbox sat over night. Today, I decide - WTF I'll see if it boots with the chip disabled. I hold the button down a low and behold - I get it to boot WITH THE CHIP DISABLED!!! But here is the mystery, I'm like OK great! lets see if I can repaet it. I shut it down, boot to the chip - works great! Now try to get it to boot with the chip disabled and it won't go - hold the button turns on - shuts off - turns on with the chip enabled. So now I'm wondering - could this be the signs of a WEAK power supply??
