Hi,
I installed my X3 chip yesterday. The mod chip itself works great, but I can't get the Xbox to boot with the chip disabled. I tore the bloody thing apart and went over everything with a fine tooth comb. I used to solder for a living so I have all the required tools and skills to do a good solder job. No splashes or broken runs. I even went to the point of examining the entire MB under a magnyfing glass to make absolutly sure the it was ok.
Now here is the weird part.
When you tap the power button, to box boots with the chip enabled.
If you hold the power button down for longer then a tap - the Xbox will loose power and restart with the chip enabled.
If you hold the power button for , lets say 4-5 seconds, the xbox will recycle power 3 times - on,off,on,off, on and then FRAG.
Now for the bizzar twist. I got tired fooling with it last night, went to bed. Got up this morning and thought to myself - hell lets try it.
I hit the power button for 3 seconds, the Xbox did not restart as it did last night, and it booted with the chip disabled!
Okay....Hmmmm
I figured I'd try it again. Turned it off, turned it back on with a quick tap and the chip came up. Turned it off then held the power button in for 3 seconds, and we're back to what was happening last night - Xbox will power off and back on with the chip enabled. WTF??
So, after the Xbox sat overnight, I was able to boot in with the chip disabled. I'm going to try it again tomorrow after it sits over night.
Could this be the symptoms of a weak powr supply???
Thanks!!
