I got an X3CE modchip today with the Xapt3r 1.6 for my v1.6 xbox. I installed the Xapt3r easily (done this part b4 a couple times) except for the fact taht it jigles alittle. But all the lights are lit so i continued. I turned it on and it took me to the FlashBIOS 3.0.1 screen. I switched the switches on the front to on on off off off like the tutorial said to. I burned a cd with a 1mb x3.3294 1.6 bios and the dummy file. When i choose to flash bios from cd, i insert the cd and it finds it, flashes it, and turns off. But when i turn it back on, it turns on off 3 times and then frags. I was able to boot the backup so I tried flashing the non 1.6 version but it did the same thing. I did notice that it says the bios currently on there is 2MB and its the one I flashed first. Do i have to erase the one on there somehow? What else could be up?

BTW, flashing anyother way besides CD is impossible as i cant plug my xbox into the network and the tv at the same time.

It couldnt be the soderless install because it boots the modchip and Flashbios and even flashes a bios from a CD-R. I haven't tried using the CD-RW because i have to go out and buy some more blanks but otherwise I have no idea where the problem is.

Runs Flashbios, but not X3 bios? Sounds like pins 13 + 14. Try flashing an X2 bios. If this works, then it's pins 13 + 14

If the X2 bios does work, and it is pins 13 and 14, then what does that mean I shuould do? Check the connection on the solderless again?

BTW, sry for asking b4 I try. I'm just not able to try it yet and I wanna know what to do when i can.

It's likely that pins 13 and/or 14 are not making a good connection. I never used a solderless adapter, so I cant really give advice on how to put it right (other than solder the pin-header in)

Sand
One thing that helped my solderless woes, was to use a little alcohol on a q-tip. Gently wipe the board AND the bottom of the solderless, making sure not to go crazy and sterilize the entire mb. I have had a few problems with mine cause it's really dusty over here. If you are careful enough, you could use a pencil sold at walmart in the automotive dept. It is designed for automotive sanding in little tiny areas. I wouldn't attempt it unless you are completely confident you won't f*** up your stuff tho.

Hey guys, sorry it took so long to get back. Short story, I got it working. Long story, the Xapt3r WASN'T making contact with the farthest two pins (loaded x2 bios and it booted, thanks adam!:D) the reason being the f***ed up screw wasn't holding it down. So rather than going to the hardware store searching endlessly for a matching screw, I decided to go with the pin header install. Everyone says its soooooo easy to solder so I thought it wouldn't be. Well it isn't. It was a sinch. Got it running the x3 bios and I've been grinning since. Thanks alot for the response.

If you're not able to select any of the menu items, then either use the official MS controller or the DVD Movie Playback Kit. One of these will definitely work.
