Hello,
i recently got the X3ce modchip with the solderless kit installed fine boots to cromwell.

made a bios cd from most recent x3 ver.1-5 bios as instructed on tutorials.
loaded it on cromwell to load bios from cd. showed bios flashing just fine yellow then green and shut off.

when i turn it back on loading that bios on switch 1-2 i get a flashing orange light on the eject switch and the console is frozen at the rox my xbox screen...??? i tried an older bios 1959 and it would startup and go to a password screen that i don't know the default password for xecuter 3 bios's to type in so i cannot get into the live config screen and the light on the eject button still orange...

another thing i bought this chip with the x3 front panel that includes the new external switch and xlcd panel which shows teamexecuter.com when i power up xbox and usb ports pre-installed on the front faceplate and i currently have it all hooked up to the X3ce also a halo light kit hooked up to the hard drive power supply... i don't know if any of that matters but just in case...

any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you,
darksidekila

Hi

It looks as if you have been sold a chip with a password already stored on it.

You'll need to erase this, so get any X2 BIOS over 4981 and flash to your chip in the same way as you did the X3 (you have enough banks so choose a spare 256k bank - remember to set the switches to this bank before flashing!!)

You got an xbe file in with x31959 - once you're able to boot into your X2 BIOS, install a dashboard and copy the xbe file over to your Xbox. You'll need a dashboard boot disk for this, so have one ready.

Run the xbe file (I think it's called erase.xbe). Your Xbox will reboot and your X3 would have been reset. Try the 1959 BIOS banks again after this and you should be ok.

thank you for your advise.

i'm half of the way there.
i did as you said and loaded x2.4983 on a 256k bank.
the bios loads up perfectly with no issues...
ran boxplorer disk i created with apps i use and transfered evox dashboard to c:/ and apps to e:/ the dashboard boots perfectly from x2 bios.

i tried to run the x3 erase defualt.xbe and it seems like it freezes black screen and nothing else system does not shut off, etc...

so now i am lost as 2 how i am going to load the latest x3 bios on the x3ce modchip when it seems like the x3 erase defualt.xbe doesnt want to run properly using the x2 bios from disk or hard drive... is there specific bank or setting the switches should be set to when running the x3 erase program to make it run properly?

hopefully you got a better idea of whats going on with this issue than i do...

thank you sir!

update i went to check installation taking it all apart and installing again i noticed the no solder adapter doesnt use the same pen configuration as the pin header setup wonder why. the no solder has 3 blue leds and a red 1 lighting up which i think is normal... but when i installed the xecuter back onto it in my shear dumbness i installed 1 row up or down and powered up the xbox to check and see if everything was working....

when this happened i checked install realized what i did and corrected it but now when the modchip is installed no matter what bios i go to the system is blank flashing red/green... i'm wondering if i fragged my x3ce :( becuase when i remove the chip xbox boots just fine with microshaft bios... is it possible to frag the chip by installing it on the no solder adapter 1 rown up or down??? is there a way to correct this issue?? and once corrected to be able to get x3-erase to work as previously mentioned to install latest x3 bios and get it to work ubstead of going to a purple screen with rox my xbox on it and freezing???

thank you for your support.

I would remove the install and start again - there is a chance you've damaged the chip, but it could just be you're not making contact with one of the pogos. Once you are sure you have everything lined up and it's all connected properly, try booting into the backup BIOS (power + eject at the same time). See how you get on from there.

hello,

i did as instructed checked no solder adapter, it is correctly seated and attached....

my question is do i need to hookup the power/eject chip to the xbox and x3ce for the backup bios to work?

i hooked the power/reset connector into the chip and that chip into the connector on xbox... the little 2 wire cable connected to the x3ce and tried on both of the spots for the power/reset chip becuase i was unsure which 1 was correct...

i cannot seem to get the backup bios to boot no matter what i do... do i have to set up the switches a certain way etc.... im lost as to how to get the backup bios with power/eject to work and i dont think the power/eject booting functions never worked for this chip unless im am doing it horribly wrong.... but i could never get them to work....

hopefully you got an idea what im doing wrong or whats going on i think i got a broken chip :(....
thank you...

if you have a v1.6b xbox then backup will not work you need to flash it with flashbios 3.0.3
when chip is new
flashbios 3.0.1 is on backup as well as on switch setting ON ON OFF OFF OFF
flashbios 3.0.3 is only on switch setting OFF ON OFF OFF OFF

flashbios 3.0.1 work on v1.0 to v1.6 xboxs but not v1.6b

flashbios 3.0.3 works on v1.0 to v1.6b but not v1.6

x3ce banks 1-4 bios 1959 on on off off off switch's: on off on off off = flash bios 3.03 off on off on off= flash bios 3.03 off off off on off = x2 bios
backup= power/eject does not work... all settings don't work and fail to boot. when i press power in any setup or eject or power/eject the xbox turns on for a second then shuts down and does this 3 times before finally staying on with a reg/green flashing light and blank screen.... when i remove the x3ce modchip xbox boots fine as normal..... =\

Hi guys,girls

Please help / advise
I have modded my xbox (version 1.4) with the executor x3 ce.:)
First loaded the cromwell bois 2.4 and install gentoox, no problems and gentoox is running fine.:) :)
After this I switch over to prepair my Xbox for xbmc, for this is loaded the x3-3294 bios and reboot my xbox no problems:) , but after setting the date and time and sniffing around in the menu's in this new bios, my xbox freeze after the reboot when the startscreen is dispayed. Also I don't have any network connection. :(
So at this point I try to find the problem.
- reload the same bios again, but no result.
- reload the cromwell 2.4 bios , and gentoox is running fine.
- reload the x3-3294 same problem again.
- reload a x2 bios , the xbox boot but I get a error 16
In some forums I read that this is due a problem with the clock settings a ?8 bios sould solve this so I loaded the m8 bios found in a EVO distrub, but no result , only a black screen.

I there a work around for this problem to solve ???
Thanks in advance

in short steps:
- switched to bank 5678 (off,on,off,off) flash my bios with a x2.5037
- switched back to bank 1234 and boot gentoox after a few minutes
- type start run \\<xbox-ip on your xp machine
- type in username and password xbox xbox
- klink on drive map c (new window is open)
- trough this connection 1 upload the erase eprom tool and a tools xbox_os4? (found on the internet).
-
- switched to bank 5678 (off,on,off,off)
- start the xbox and i could execute the default.xbe this cleaned my eeprom
- after this I flashed my x3 with the last x3-3292
bios , after starting my xbox i'm back in business and could use the x3 bios and set it up.

finaly I loaded my xbox with the AID3.04 toolbox (this is realy a fine tool) and i'm back and have a fine running modded xbox.
