Well... its pretty similar... Somewhere in Network settings and Control panel, and Ethernet thingy... Or I think the shortcut was right click Network Neigborhood and click Properties...
I don't know it exactly its been a while since I touched Win9x.

Might have to check the cable connection or something... and make sure the back of the lcd isn't touching the metal frame.. Not too sure here.

Does it just light up and nothing shows when its enabled?

Figured out the LCD

I checked around in some other threads and one reminded me that there was a contrast on the actual chip so i tore the machine down once more (which is ok cause now i got the replacment faceplate to fit correctly w/ the top of the xbox now also) and adjusted the contrast all is well w/ the LCD now
Poida^ said:

i knew this wasent the issue cause i read about either one or the other (back of the LCD or the metal frame) needing to be covered w/ electrical tape to prevent shorting on the LCD so i performed that precaution on the inital install

any wayz what is the next step now that im flashed and assured all my hardware is working correctly?

ive herd/read a lot about needing to install one of the following: Evox, XBMC, Slayers, Avelaunch.
what are the pro's and cons of these programs so i kan get an idea of which i want to install?
what one do you use?
whats the diffrence in all of these?
and just wondering what kind of media will my Phillips (v. 1.1 xbox)? play ive read a lot about people having issues w/ this particular drive being extreamly picky on what kind of media it plays(im only asking because in all those programs ive looked up tutorials for it says i instal;l it part FTP and the other part via install cd or somthing like that)
thanx again for hanging in there w/ me Poida i appreciate all the help u have given me:) keep checkin back man i check this thread daily to see if any one has gotten back w/ me (only cuz i want my xbox up and running correctly and efficently no matter how long it takes me to catch on )

p.s
sorry bout the double post/reply up there not quite shure how i managed that but i do know that is frowned upon in a forum community and i want ppl to know it was an accident lol

I too have a BIOS question.

I just modded my 1.1 with a Xapt3r and the X3 chip.
I loaded X3 Config Live, and every thing is working fine.
I have not installed the switch yet, so I can't sellect the memory banks.

When I press the Power and Eject buttons at the same time it just boots to the dashboard. I used the flash BIOS 3.0.1 that was on my chip to flash the X3 BIOS via HTTP.

Can I use the command in Config Live to flash 3.0.3 to the backup bank?

A ask because I don't want to trash my box... again...

dot19408, you might want to start your own thread to get everyone's full attention.
But you don't really have a problem, the switch is optional and you can select banks within X3 Config live in bios options. In there you can flash your backup bios with FlashBIOS. With Power+eject, you might want to try it a few times... its easier to tell if its on when the switch is plugged in and you see a purple X logo. Without the Switch in, its turned to the default first 1MB bank... Again you can access other banks all in the X3 Config Live bios.

Back to the original poster...

Thats good news korn
Ah yes, the constrast setting... I thought you already played with that... should of read it properly.. you did miss out of that bit...

All the software I use is in my signature... most of them...

EvoX is good for newbies, so I keep hearing... try them all out is a good way to see which one you like...

You can use an autoinstaller such as Auto Installer Delux ... in DJBOOBY's signature..
I'm too lazy to look now.... that needs to be burned on a CD I think... Its got pretty much everything you would want I think....
And yeah, I think most things can be installed via FTP. I have not burned a single CD for my Xbox yet... and it does everything I want it to do.

For a linux distros, xDSL is nice and small, but GentooX is a nice complete package.
Make the most of your LCD with Xbox Media Center, Avalaunch and Dvd2Xbox...

Not trying to hijack, just wanted to say that I am installing my x3ce hopefully this weekend and there is a lot of good info here. The install of the chip does not worry me at all, it is the post flash routines that confuse the hell out of me. Thanks for all the info. BOOKMARKED! :)

You can read that other thread about FTP thats going around in this forum... its a pretty good guide.

But I'll continue from where you are at now...
Hmmm... Only have X3 installed? Still got the same IP address from the HTTP flash?
So I assume its the same subnet 192.168.0.X ?
And Xbox previously had 192.168.0.100 ?

Well, the X3 bios has an FTP server already which is the good news.
It's login and password is "x3" without the quotes. (Can't be changed for some reason.)

The bad news is you have to manually set an IP for your Xbox now... the HTTP flash set one for you by default... X3 doesn't do that like before. No auto assigning of address like before right?

IP address should show up in the bottom left hand side of the screen in the X3 bios.

So to manually set up an IP address for your XBOX from X3CL...
Settings -> Network Setup
DHCP = Disabled (Enable for auto assigning of address)
Set Static IP = 192.168.0.100 (or similar, just not the same as your PC)
Set Subnet = 255.255.255.0
Don't worry too much about gateway ? Any of the two would probably do...
Don't worry about the rest...

Reset or something.. and it should be set...

Again try to access or ping the Xbox from your PC...
Login via FTP using your FTP client using the IP you assigned your Xbox.

Backup your original hard drive and unlock it while you don't use it...
Plug in your new hard drive, using Disk Tools in X3 bios...

FTP all the stuff on your original hard drive over which you backed up...
then install all the goodies you want...

Didn't read your post properly, but I guess you already tried all that?

Default settings seem to be 192.168.0.1 (which can stay)
The Gateway IP doesn't exist by default if you are directly connected, so you can probably set that to your PC's IP address.

Just make the subnet are in the same range was probably the whole point...
I don't think there's anything wrong with your connect as you already have accessed the Xbox through the network.

I found this guide pretty good for dashboard installation as well:

got the FTP connection (i was typing HTTP//: oops lol) now for the final questions and i should be pretty well set at doing this

1)got the connection which partitions do i want to put stuff/goodies and where do i acess them via X3 chip on the xbox

2)what/where are my HDD settings game saves and music located so i may reserve a backup copy?

3) i found the BIOS banks under ADMIN for the X3 does this mean i kan flash from the FTP server now insdead of messing w/ all the other things?

4)for the dashboards i have downloaded what type dfo i want to transfer to my xbox (i know its not the .ISO cuz xbox reads >XIOS NOT .ISO)?

4) could u leave a link to the other FTP thread if u would please?

1) Normally E and F (or G) for applications/games/emulators... They got the most room to throw stuff on.
C for dashboards and main apps

2) C I think? I would just copy everything that is from my original HD over to the new one exactly as it is. Keep your original hard drive around as a pure backup.

3) Yes

4) Not sure about question...?
If its an .ISO, you burn it and run it... or extract it and FTP it.

4?... Link? Don't think you need it. Haven't you already got your ftp going?
That was the FTP thread I mentioned before...
http://teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33141

Thats enough from me now I think...
The rest are pretty easy searches or have their own support...
All the Xecuter stuff has been finished a while ago.

step #2) XML
look like i need to know XML (what ever that is seems to be a webpage scripting or somthing of that sort)
all questions, comments ect. on XML that i have will be posted in a thread i found reguardin XML located here>>> http://teamxecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32691
if any one has any help, questions,or comments pleas feel free to partake in this conversatiopn as i thought installing a new dash via FTP would be much simpler than having to learn a computer language or what ever XML is

It is not hard. You don't have to learn anything really... If we are talking about XBMC... you don't have to change much at all.... or you can just copy someone's sample one.
The file is fully commented with instructions on what to do.
All you need is to replace text... remove or just leave it for the standard setting where you can adjust some of them in the dashboard...

it looks like there are only a few things that i should change any way. i dont even know what the fuclk all this means from what i kan tell im suposed to alter the text between the tags ex:

if thats so there are some things that dont even apear to look like that ex:
<item presetname="Telnet" function="Telnet"/>
there is also a good possibility im confusing HTML w/ XML?
ill try to alter the XML file and repost it in here and u kan tell me if i have the right idea or not
