ok heres the low down you NEED a dvd like auto installer delux 3 or slayer evox install to setup new hard drive or use the x3 bios new hard drive setup option
then you just need to put the copy of C/ and E/ folder from old H/D on to new hard drive
if you do not have a dash and wish to install one like [font=verdana, arial, helvetica]avalaunch[/font] then you will need auto installer delux 3 to install it or ftp it to your xbox H/D

Im currently running avalaunch and am going to be switching HDD's soon but am not interesed what so ever in EVOX nor making an auto installer cd.

Thats why i asked if i MUST have EVOX to install a new HDD.

The Auto Installers are a beautiful thing though... It has everything you want and makes installs very easy for new hard drives. Just download the image, burn and run it on your xbox. Try Auto Installer Delux, check BOOBY's link in his sig.

I use XBMC and UnleashX. XBMC does everything....
UnleashX, I just like better than the others for no good reason other than the skin is better and there's a text editor? :?

kool i got XBMC working last night its a kool program (though not inpressed w/ the audio output on the DVD playback feature possibly a setting).

Now im gonna move to emulators (have a bunch of ROMS for emulators on the Dream Cast that i will just extract and move to the xbox and use a p2p for other ROMS).

Though at xbins im not finding an emulator for the sega master system does such an emulator exist fot the xbox?

Will there ever be a PSP emulator for the xbox(or nintendo DS for that matter)?

Yeah have to agree there, I don't use XBMC for playing DVDs, and starting games.
It's not the best for that... but cool overall.
Use the dongle free DVDX2 player for DVDs and a dashboard for games... don't think that would improve the audio output though?

Not shure what is effecting the ouput of the sound could possibly just be the one movie i was trying to watch w/ XBMC ill play with it a lil more and c what the f**k is up sooner or later

Oh and DJBOOBY thanx for the list of emulators and the name of the installer cd.

now as far as ROMS go im assuming that i make a ROMS folder in the coresponding emulators root folder and put the roms there. am i right or wrong on this one lol?

thanx for the descriptions (the emulator name and what it emulates) there is sh*t there i never even herd of before, like the SCUMM or the SEGA SC 3000 and one i found that particularly odd that ive never herd of is the WONDER SWAN.

Where am i to find ROMS for the odd ball emulators as previously listed?

I tryed a p2p but nothing much seems to come up for them.

my final question reguarding ROMS is a ROM is a ROM and will run on any emulator as long as the emulator is desighned to run the ROM for the intended system correct? what im asking pretty much is if i extract my ROMS from my DREAMCAST emulator discs i.e. the snes will thay run on the xbox emulator?

in the emulator theres a roms folder put roms in there you dont have to put them in unziped just keeped zip not all emulator do this read the readme notes in emulator to find out how to run emulator
for roms do a search for roms

umm ok i read one of the readme files and it says the following: Media\Others\Nintendo Entertainment System\Roms\.

doe that mean i need to create a media folder than an apps folder than an NES folder than a ROMS folder or is there an existing Media folder on my xbox that it wants me to use?

oh duh the folder is already written for me im asumong i put it in a folder named emulators (my dashboard has a selection called emulators when loaded) and drop the .XBE and media folder in there?

put the emulator in to the E/emulator folder that should be there then open emulator you installed and in it put the roms in to the roms folder

ok i got the nintendo emulator working this is awsome i tryed installing xSnes9x V1.42
to my HDD but it seems it only reads ROMS from the d: drive (dvd rom) is there a way to get it to read the roms from my hdd also like nester (i love nester used it w/ the dream cast a lot back in the day)?

in setting of emulator theres an option where toi read roms from
nester if its not on AID3 then i don,t think theres one for xbox

as far as loading the roms from the hdd in xsnesx i cant seem to find the setting
but i have a question about my dashboard i want the pic that shows up while the dashboard is loading changed how do i do that ive opened all the .png and .jpg files in the skins folder but non of them are the pic i want to replace (avalunch version 0.49.3 xmas edition) is there a way to replace that pic (just to tell u all its that santa anime chick i want gone but i kant seem to find the file to replace)

no its not thes skin its just some stupid anime chick that shows up when the dashboard loads and i want a diffrent pic insdead (i opened all the .png and .jpeg files and havent found it yet) but yeah i know its not the skin do you use the xmas version of avalaunch (most recent release)?
