how do you get internet now are you on dialup or other
not 100% on what you need to do
if you have xbox plug in as well as ps2 have never done ps2 then power up routor once its power up power up xbox the routor will give it a ip that will show up on dash or you can go into dash and give it a static ip in the settings
192.168.1.2 is good
then you can ftp to xbox
if your trying to use the routor to get on net as well you should get a page on routor settup page that is if you have a adsl routor you type in user name then password so every time you go on line it connect
here is a site that will help i hope
http://www.portforward.com/default.htm
ask anything and i will try to help

also in another post u said the following:

Getting an address assigned automatically will give you an IP address which will change dynamically, but you don't have to set it.
Set DHCP on in where you have network settings and if your router is set to assign addresses (it is a DHCP server)...then your xbox, pc and ps2 will get an address automatically from it.

All programs with network settings always have these two options for IP addressing.
would that be in refrence to to this screen(this was supposed to be included in the origional posting of the screen shots must be i didnt take them right i apologize for any confusion this may have caused):

DNS you usually get from your ISP. Usually automatically obtained or you can assign one yourself.

The 4 ports in the linksys routers are usually an inbuilt switch. You can hook up your Xbox, PC and PS2 in those ports and throw away your hub/switch (unless you want more than 4 in your network)... Then you got a spare port for another PC or laptop or what ever device.

???

Ummm.. probably not. I don't think those ports have anything to do with those settings.

Those DNS and WINS information are given from your ISP.
The note on the side says it.

The notes on the right side says you need to complete the Internet Settings setup to your ISP.

my ISP never gaeve me any thing like that (running cable internet by the way) do i need to call the ISP to obtain that information???

As far as i know my pc is set to obtain everything automatically does that mean it gets that information automatically also?

Yes it does. If you go to you PC if it is connected straight to the Internet and type "ipconfig /all" in the command line, you will see all those settings.

They are given automatically, but in the router configuration you can assign them statically. (DNS Static)

You can call your ISP if you want, but its usually just given and probably could be on their webpage. Like the good old dialup days when they made you enter them in...

correction to the above post (seeing as how i can only edit 10 minuites after i post)
where it says:
through the hub at the moment
it SHOULD say:
through the router at the moment

i apologize for any confusion this may hav caused

Through the router? Then you're pretty much finished...
Xbox and PS2 connect to the internet the same way as your PC.

Everything else is pretty much automatically done I guess...

Xbox-Damn Small Linux! 50MB! w00t!
Can emulate Windows 98 with it, but totally useless.
