Hey everyone, this is my first post. This information exists elsewhere in the fourms, however it is very disorganized and hard to find, so I thought I would just put up an informational post about the situation.
On my X3CE chip, the flash protection switch (not the external switch, but the actual switch on the chip) is mislabeled. According to the Team Xecuter tutorial on installing the X3CE, RED means UNPROTECTED and GREEN means PROTECTED. On MY chip however, the label states that RED means PROTECTED and GREEN means UNPROTECTED. I switched my flash protection switch to the "supposed" protected position and now I can flash my BIOS without any problems. This is how I know for sure the switch is mislabeled.
Now, I am not sure if only certain X3CE chips have this mislabeled flash protection switch, but I know there have been other posts with people reporting similar scenarios.
Can anyone comment on this situation? Does anybody have an X3CE that is labeled correctly? I am wondering if it was just an accident on a certain batch of PCBs at the manufacturing facility.
To all those having problems flashing a BIOS to their X3CE chip, pop the hood on your XBOX and see if you have this problem.
I hope this relieves some headaches for some people.
